The craziest thing is, West Ham kicked off!
    I bet they did!
Myself & @TelMc32 went to this game with a mate who was hamster. We went in with him & sat amongst them. Looking at the the inmates we decided it probably wasn’t the best place to be. We approached a OB officer and told him we were Charlton and it would probably better if we were in the away end. He took us down the front and into away end. We just reached a decent standing point when kick off occurred. Shortly afterwards we scored, had we been in our original location it would have been interesting.
Celebrating a Charlton goal while shitting myself could certainly be described as interesting.

    Me too.🤓

Which Gen Z lad or lady is in charge of the CAST Twitter account?

Love the usual generational chest beating of ‘I’ve been a fan longer than you’ - usual Charlton bollocks aye!
Can’t enjoy a good win or two without digging out fellow fans - heaven forbid we have fans who werent around in ‘86!

Haven’t always backed CAST but out fanbase do love to stick their ore in and dig them out at any slight opportunity, whilst the usual idiots proudly declare they ‘don’t pay their £5!’

I dread to think what it will be like when we leave/are booted out of The Valley.

Why are you making it a generational thing? Some people like facts and figures and learn this stuff. Others don't.

Have the rest of the day off.
To be fair to @19addickted96 it was @Callumcafc that made it a generation thing with his "Gen Z' comment. Callum does have a point though.

I'm referring to both of them. It's tiresome.

I was also at Upton park that day with my dad, and the battle of the bridge, my dad sadly passed away in July but he always took a carrier bag with a flask of coffee in, he just put it on the ground when Melrose scored, someone in the madness that followed jumped on his bag, broke the flask and I will never forget his mortified face as the coffee flowed down the terrace! Told this tale at his eulogy, makes me smile when I remember it, RIP dad
    Great story mate.

Apologies if anyone found it offensive.

As you might’ve seen, I started this thread myself back in 2016 when I thought we broke a record only to be taught about the Melrose goal. That was on a personal account though, not something that is supposed to represent a large and diverse body of supporters from across multiple generations. Keep those sorts of tweets to your personal accounts.

Ultimately it doesn’t actually matter at all. I just made the comment because it very much outed the person running the account as a younger / newer fan. I’m not exactly old myself..!

I was at that West Ham game. I recall rushing not to miss the kick off and saw the goal just as it happened.
  • I was at that game at Upton Park - Ive still got the juddery dodgy video of the game that Vince sold me in the Goat House pub in Selhurst before the next home game  (where we were playing at that time)   :D

  • My favourite thing about that YouTube clip is Alvin Martin's comment: "it's going to be very difficult for us to get back in the game now"... it's been 9 seconds, mate, you have over 89 minutes to get back into it!

No, the best thing about Alvin Martin's co-comentary is how in the build up hes banging on about how our game plan is to sit deep and soak up pressure. Then, 9 seconds in, the commentator says to him, "what happened there then, Alvin?" , which is met by stunned silence!

Didn’t Lookman score against Bolton (?) a few years back after 20 odd seconds?
The Addicks led after 27 seconds when Ademola Lookman fired in, before the 18-year-old forward doubled their lead from close range.

December 15th 2015- wouldn't say it is a few years when you have Henderson in goal, Karel Fraeye in the dugout and Emile Heskey scoring the equalising goal

Wasn't born but heard a story from somebody entering the ground at the time (so was there not there)

  • I went with my wife , and a mate who was West Ham  , we were up in the old West Stand , while he went off to the North Bank .
We missed  kick off and Jim's goal , but someone told us soon as we sat down .
So it was hilarious after the game when we met up and my mate goes , " close game , you beating us by the odd goal !!!" He thought it ended 1-2 .Wouldn't believe us until he heard it on the radio when we got back to the car , he thought we were on a wind up .( no mobiles
Or Internet back in the olden days)
