I was in the North Bank....so could hardly go 'potty' though I did give my mate a dig in the side (a West Ham fan from Blackpool)...indeed it was a good day even enjoyed a beer in the Bolyn (sp) before the game.
Didn't we score at 2.58. The game kicked off 2 minutes early. I was on the chicken run with my West Ham supporting uncle. One of my greatest ever Charlton days.
Brilliant day for us. We played very well that day. The 9 second goal was unreal and I remember Colin Walsh hitting the underside of the bar after about 4 minutes and then banging in a screamer after about 25 minutes.
They pulled one back and we were all getting nervous waiting for the expected onslaught from West Ham but it didn't happen and we then went on the sew the game up through John Pearson's goal. Fantastic 3.1 win at a real old school football ground. Used to love going to Upton Park back then and who would have known that we would have been playing our home games there just a few years later.

Still remember my mate being shocked how good we were that day.
I was at the West Ham match where Melrose scored fastest goal - I was a guest of the west ham sponsors and had seats adjacent to West Ham dug out !!!! F'ing brilliant day - we stuffed em out of site - Melrose had george parris for breakfast - the guy from west hams sponsors (I ghey were called AVCO) asked me to tone it down when our 2nd goal went in and I was refused entry to the players lounge afterwards for singing 'goodbye horse' after our 3rd goal - apart from the 1-1 draw with Chelsea last game of season when we stayed up, the best away day ever for me - happy times, no internet, no mobile phones
Estimated at 10-12 seconds... Wondering what the official time will be.
If its like the "official" attendance figures it will be 15min 37secs
It could change again. Haven't seen the goal yet but if Harriott was travelling at speed when he hit the shot then it could add or subtract some time - if the ball was off the ground this adds another variable. I can't work out which way round it is from the Einstein theory: Einstein's theory of relativity states that time and space are not as constant as everyday life would suggest. He suggested that the only true constant, the speed of light, meant that time can run faster or slower depending on how high you are, and how fast you are travelling.
The ball would have moved faster than the TV camera recording the goal, so whatever time you can measure from watching the replay will be greater than the time experienced by the ball. However, at the speed the ball was travelling relative to the camera the difference in time would be so small as to be unmeasurable. I think the Apollo 11 astronauts, who spent several days travelling at about 6,000mph relative to earch, came back one or two seconds younger than if they'd stayed on earth. There's a good Wikipedia page on this topic here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_dilation.
This is brilliant, only on Charlton Life. You would never in a million years get this take on things on that other forum which cannot be mentioned and certainly not at 'The House of a Fun' either.
Yes seen the video and was in the North Bank with my hammer mate. I remember recognising another Charlton fan (MOG) pre match, and also telling a hammer next to me, that it would be harder then he thought as "they" (Charlton) had won their last 3 games.
Walsh was magic in that first half, but feared the worse when Cottee scored just before half time. Happy days.
I was with @TelMc32 and a mate who was a hamster in their end prior to kick off. Looking around we decided it would be best not to be in there if we scored. So the both of us walked up to OB and asked if we could go in with the away fans. He escorted us round to our fans, just as we are walking up the stairs the game started. Best decision we ever made, don't think we would lasted very long in there, maybe 10 seconds.
I was at the game with my gf, who was a West Ham fan, so we went in their end. I promised to behave myself but, of course, after 9 seconds was leaping about and screaming like a banshee. Not sure if she was more mortified or terrified but their fans were pretty good as they were confident they'd get back in it. They were less friendly by half time and when the third went in there were a few hostile elements :-) I beat a careful retreat .....

Another addick in the North bank....we could have took it.
What a great day i also remember a load of us wearing hankies on our head. I have no idea why and the old bill telling us to remove them or we would be chucked out. Didn't big John Pearson fall over as he went through on go and as he hit the deck the ball bounced off him and into the net?

McAvennie was out injured that day. Bonus point for getting who played up front with Cottee without looking it up Leroy.
Ooh shit, now you've put me on the spot. Was it someone daft like Alvin Martin?
I distinctly remember that little cnut Mark Ward being an arsehole all game

Paul Goodard?
That was a "home" game for me back then as I was living 10 minutes walk from Upton Park.
Correct-a-mundo. Check out the big brain on Bournemouth!

I'm disappointed in you Leroy.
Not only did you not know - Bournemouth got it right - but, worse than that, if you'd read my contribution to this thread you would know that Alvin Martin was in the commentary box because he's on the video!
2/10: a poor effort, not up to Leroy's usual standards.

He was giving the ref a load of mouth so the ref booked him.
He then continued to give the ref more verbal so the ref gave him a second yellow and off he went moaning
