Great effort this season lads, unlucky, but keep going you'll be sold in the summer.
  • Just back from the game. Thoroughly enjoyable, apart from the result. Charlton had the better of the first half and Huddersfield the second. In extra time we were well on top and had several very good chances to win the tie.
Of the players, Mitov made 3 excellent saves and didn't have any chance of saving any of their penalties. The captain, Terrell Thomas was calm and bought the ball out well from the back. Dijksteel played well as the holding midfielder, also getting forward to support attacks. Was surprised when he was subbed. Charles-Cook was energetic, although chose the wrong option on several occassions when attacking.
Crossing from promising positions was generally poor, although it was much better in extra time. I also thought Montell Moore looked lively, although he was also subbed, so perhaps I'm not too good a judge of players!
All the Huddersfield supporters around me thought we were unlucky to lose, but if you don't take your chances.....
Are any of these players ready for the first team? I would say not. Kennedy (who came on as a sub) and Charles-Cook did not really stand out, and they have had a few first team appearances. Perhaps the only one would be Thomas, who looked calmer than most, but got caught out of position a few times.

According to Jose Mourinho, losing on Pens doesn't count as a defeat,

    So the U21 record is W15 D5 L0 ! not too shabby.
