I have been rather critical of the trust in the last month, even decided to cancel my automatic membership renewal but this is a great statement, as it has immediately put the real questions that need answering back at the club & spoiled the clubs attempt to win round the media.
More of this and my renewal sometime in February will be an easy decision, keep up the good work.
Watching Exeter at the moment, a club saved by it's Supporters Trust. People are entitled to think what they like about our Trust, but it has credibility because it is clearly linked to the wider Trust movement in football.
sorry Prague but I for one will now consider leaving the Trust as I see no future in it, I understand that you wish to keep any future moves secret from the club but I can only judge your actions on what I know and all I know is that you have waved a bit of paper in the air and the club will just ignore you, a bit like 1939. we need a Churchill not a Chamberlain.
This is certainly a popular interpretation of history, but in my view and unfair and incorrect one. In 1938 when Chamberlain waved that piece of paper, Britain was ill prepared for a war with Germany and would have very likely lost any immediate conflict. Over the next year arms production went into over drive so when the inevitable war came we were in a position to defend ourselves.
In terms of our battle I would suggest that any Charlton fans that agree drastic change is needed, should join the trust regardless of whether they agree with their current policy on how to proceed. That will give us all a chance to register our opinions in how the trust should take thing forward and give it the required mandate to act on this.
On another note about trust membership I did look last night to join on-line, but it appears this has to be done by cheque in the post. Is there a way, perhaps through PayPal that a system could be put in place to join on-line? This might make things a bit easier for the masses.
Funny how a bunch of part-time volunteers can churn out a well thought out, professional and reasonable response within 24 hrs of the club's ham-fisted attempt at a bit of PR yesterday, but it takes the club and it's full time interim professionals days, weeks or months (if at all) to respond to communications from the fans, and when they do respond it is often ill-thought out rubbish.
