Not one mention of the manager. Not one mention of the CEO. A lot of bullshit that basically adds up to - Roland saved us and player budget has increased by 40%. But yep we've recruited badly, but we did it badly in the past as well so swings and roundabouts and all that yeah? Oh and the three players we've signed - one who has been injured for two years, one who we didn't deem worthy of a contract 6 months ago, and another who used to play for us should mean we'll be fine now. Honest.
This. Weird the manager and CEO are not mentioned once.
Question: Richard, what is the strategy for Charlton Athletic?
Richard Murray: “Our strategy for Charlton Athletic is that we are a financially stable club, who can be competitive in the Championship, but has Premier League ambitions.
“Through Roland Duchatelet’s backing we have become financially stable. The second two elements are a bigger challenge.”
a) this is literally the opposite of what Katrien said at that "Web Summit" the other month (what was that for by the way ?)
b) are we financially stable ? We have a rich owner but we're still in masses of debt and with attendances at a (recent) historic low and the Premier League miles out of our reach it seems impossible that the current system could ever see us financially stable. Roland might be financially stable, but "we" aren't.
I like it how he says that we need a mixture of british / overseas talent and when asked why that wasnt addressed in the summer, he turns round and says that we didnt expect Henderson, Vetokele and Kashi to get injured.
Only one of them names mentioned is British you fool
Is the interview from RM the statement? or is there something else? On face value there is little wrong with what he has said. However it very much is not in the spirit of what KM has been spouting. Ate the very least RD should be sacking KM for incompetence, lying to and misleading supporters. The protests haven't come about just because we have lost a few games (we are used to that!). They still don't get it
I keep hearing about investment in the training ground, have the workmen moved in yet? There was a fully funded scheme in place two years ago which would not have cost the club a penny. Anyway the investment he is funding in the training will be a debt on the club through RD's holding company.
Oh, and another thing - 40% increase in the budget for players?
That means a lot Murray, considering we were relying on freebies like Simon Church and loans like Marvin Sordell a couple of days before that season kicked off. 40% of fuck all is hardly a ringing endorsement, and Katrien has already said we've got one of the lowest budgets - approx half of some of the clubs we're "competing against". Stop treating us like idiots and have the respect to fuck off.
We up the protests, and we give RM the grief he deserves. Who does he think he is.
Crafted questions so he can answer them, who knows if this even was a interview.. probably just sat down next to someone at a computer to help fill an article with what he wanted to say.
"He wants to get as many families, as many youngsters as possible so that we have an ongoing supporter base which will support us in the future when Roland, myself and others are long gone from this football club." - Stands out to me this bit, as he is failing incredibly, if that's what he really wants then he should sell up, as he's giving us the opposite.
Why is Katrien not saying anything at all?? Is she genuinely childish enough to be throwing a tantrum and refusing?
What can she say though? I imagine they are waiting for results to improve before she pipes up again.
She could explain what's going on with the managerial situation having promised another search and process.
She could also have addressed the Varney emails.
Absolutely, but in telling the truth she'd be throwing fuel on the fire - the real answers to those questions are answers we don't want to hear. So it's best, for her not the club obviously, that she says nothing.
Absolutely nothing new. They have wheeled out the old fart again with some sticky plasters in an attempt to shut the fans Up. That interview could have been done 12 months ago. Nothing new here.

Not sure Hendo would be too happy with that description either ;-)
It's no good bringing in Championship players if you have a crap manager. This just proves what a Muppet he really is because behind closed doors he must have had serious concerns about the quality of players being brought in.
joke that is and they wonder why we hate them a load of bs just infuriates us even more, need to go wankers, will there be a protest at blackburn? as will come down to the protest but wont be going into the match as dont have a season ticket and dont want to give them a single penny, thats a sorry state of affairs when a fan is choosing to go to the stadium to join in a protest and deliberately not watch the match.
We are witnessing this club in crisis. Nothing there in that closed interview that will help anything. It does not address the fundamental problems. The gulf seems to widens by the day between the club hierarchy and the supporters.
Q: Was this not something that should have been identified in the summer?
RM: “It could have been better but you also can’t legislate for injuries to some of our key players like Stephen Henderson, Igor Vetokele and Ahmed Kashi.
Henderson missed half of last season through injury and Vetokele was crocked from (before?) Christmas onwards. It is absolute nonsense to say we couldn't have legislated for that in Summer 2015 when they both *started* the season injured.

Murray is probably confused as he started his career at a side called Belvedere
It's actually pointless. Same old recycled crap. I'm eternally grateful to Murray for what he did for our club pre-2006 but I don't know anyone can support him now.

Am sorry they've made matters worse here, fair enough we want communication but unless you've got something smart to say, keep your mouth shut!!
