Youngsters Mikhail Kennedy and Josh Staunton have today both signed new contracts with the club.

Northern Irishman Kennedy has put pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him with Charlton until June 2018, while Staunton has extended his contract until next summer.

Kennedy, who netted seven goals for the U21s last season, burst onto the scene in September, scoring three minutes into his first-team debut in the Capital One Cup victory at Peterborough United.

He has since gone on to make three more senior appearances, two of which came from the start in Championship matches, while he has also represented Simon Clark’s U21s recently.

Staunton, meanwhile, joined the club in the summer following a successful trial and has been a regular at the heart of the U21s’ defence this season.

He has bagged two goals for the development squad thus far and has worn the captain’s armband on a number of occasions. His previous deal was due to expire in January.
