Good to hear that he's (a) on a pro-contract with 2 years, (b) that we're looking to reward him and improve it for both sides and (c) our gates are getting a massive boost from agents and scouts!! A small, but helpful boost to Target 20,000!!

Good news.
Lets hope we dont over expose him to the first team and end up ruining his confidence. Have a feeling he'll be getting a fair bit of game time3 -

Very good news. Lookman’s options are most likely to be to get the same money for two years and see out this contract or sign a significantly longer one on much better financial terms. He will know that when he reaches a certain level, he will be sold, but we can ensure he goes for the right price. He’ll win and we’ll win.1

To be fair Joe Gomez had won an International Tournament with England U17s, was on the short list for young player of the year in the Football League and had been on the radar of many of the top Premier League sides for years and was the subject of interest (even if only rumoured) of both Liverpool and Man City.ForeverAddickted said:

Lookman has played less than 90 minutes of league football.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Poyet looked like the most intelligent player in our whole squad for 20 games and now he is being loaned out to any club that will take him.
I haven't seen Lookman play and I hope that he makes it for us and, potentially, for someone else but let's not set the chap up for a fall. Cue nine months from now and he is the latest scape goat because he hasn't scored five goals in the first three games of the season.3 -
I was going to use Patrick Roberts to Man City as an example @kings hill addick but he too won the same tournament as Joe Gomez for the U17s and had played a few match in the Premier League before being relegated with Fulham0

But yet again it is the SLP running the story not the club.
It's good news, it will please fans but KM or someone takes a call from the SLP and let's them have the story instead of the club's own website. That website where you should be looking to drive traffic as we get paid on hits if nothing else. That website that is selling tickets and other stuff. But no, let the SLP run the story, not as if the club need any good publicity at the moment.

To be fair to the KM and RD, since the Poyet fiasco, which was not really their fault but more down to Mick and Tone, they have been true to their word about trying to get young players tied down on decent length contracts.
There are sticks to beat them with, for sure, but not sure this is one.5 -

Poyet wasn't down to them.
Gomez was a rock and a hard place situation.
The agent says include the release figure or we don't sign.
And getting Cat 1 will make it easy to hang to to talents like Kasey Palmer.
On the other hand the academy and these players were in place long before Roland.
And while we're floating around the bottom the the 2nd tier young players will be easy pickings for other club in the championship let alone the Prem.
We also risk burning out young players or destroying their confidence by throwing them into constantly changing and struggling sides.1 -

Difficult to disagree given the basket case we've become. I don't see that being too different under any owner unless we're in the Prem ourselves. Since RD came in we've actually kept more young players by getting them signed up on long term deals.
Under previous owners we saw Jenkinson, Shelvey, Palmer, Huddart (GK that went to Arsenal), Ajayi (only offered him 6 months yet Arsenal offered 2 years, has since signed for Cardiff) and Poyet (not really down to RD) leave in the last 5/6 seasons.
Maybe it's just me but as well as THD and Lookman have done I'm not sure either are at the level Gomez or Shelvey were. It wasn't that long ago people were saying similar things about keeping hold of Cousins and Harriott.1 -

Yes, while the current owners may have many faults, it's stupid to call them out for selling promising youngsters, as that is what has always happened. If players leave at a younger age now, it's because of agents sniffing around.Scoham said:
