He was excellent…and Gordon Ramsey did his bit too!!
  •  I expected them to really tone Jack down given how uppity some of the drivers and team principals get about jokes but fair play they let him do his thing.
  • VCARB come out with the best livery , a bit Turkey 2020 Red Bull inspired
  • I can only assume this event was aimed at the American audience? Flashy lights, long and dramatic video packages, musical interludes for no apparent reason, drivers who were in many cases clearly reluctant and/or uncomfortable but contractually obliged to be there and say the right things.

Jack Whitehall was about the only good thing about it, and they seemed to bin him off about halfway through. Barely saw him in the second half although I have to confess I didn't watch all the way to the end so maybe he made a big comeback?

    Not for me I'm afraid!
  • First time in a while I've found a Ferrari to look ugly
  • Know it's only been one session but looks like Kimi Antonelli is going to run away with it this year
  • Monaco mandated 2 stop. Bernie just made a good point for someone at the back stopping in lap 1/2 and hoping to catch the rest up and be in front

They should also mandate that all 3 compounds must be used, as that would set up a more interesting race too, do you chuck on the soft for 1 lap, make a stop and hope to catch back up to the pack and get a safety car, do you stay out on hards as long as possible at the start knowing you'll be on a quicker tyre at the end? Opens up many possibilities

  • Not sure any of it’ll make much difference. The fundamental problem with Monaco is you can’t overtake, even it the driver in front is lapping 10 seconds slower than they’re capable of. Two stops will create some tyre wear offsets, potentially, but it probably still won’t be enough to allow drivers to overtake.

Until there are some longer straights, bigger breaking zones, and the track is wider, all of which would probably need Monte Carlo to be partially demolished, it’ll be the same.

I look forward to this post being quoted in a few months when we’ve had the most exciting Monaco Grand Prix in history.
Monaco would be more exciting if the drivers had to stop every 25 laps and complete 25 laps of a Monaco GP modelled scalextric track before getting back in their F1 car and carrying on. Otherwise not much hope for it as a spectacle unless they build a out into the harbour a long straight, 180 bend and straight back to land.
  • Wish they'd just leave Monaco to Formula E tbh. I don't see making it a 2 stop making a huge amount of difference.
  • They could make 50 stops and you still wouldn't get an overtake on track. It's not a race, it's just a procession. FFS, the other year Alonso was deliberately slowing down just to piss Hamilton off, knowing full well that there was nothing anyone could do about it.
