  • Was Lewis hinting that was the end of his Merc career on the radio? Would make sense to give Kimi a free hit for the final 3 races

I think that sadly Norris isn't quite World Champion material, his race starts are not good enough.
  • I know the Hamilton Vs Leclerc intra team battle is the big one for next season but it will be interesting to see how it works at McLaren. If Piastri can continue to progress it will be very interesting to see how McLaren manage things.

I actually think Piastri is the faster driver. Think Norris’s best shot at World Championship was this year as I think Piastri will have the upper hand next season.

I think you're absolutely right and it's going to be very very interesting to see how Zak and Andrea manage it because I can't see Lando taking getting beaten very well.
  • I also thought that Piastri was very compliant today, cant see that being repeated too many times from now.
  • Piastri has made more mistakes than Norris this year. He also tends to fade during races, so would still have Norris as number 1
  • Sauber have released a statement confirming that both Bottas and Zhou will be leaving at the end of the season.

    Bortoleto incoming there then.
  • Sounds like Bottas is likely heading to Merc to be a reserve/guy that stands next to Toto in the garage and tries to look serious.

Would have been fun to see him go to Indycar but I doubt he wants to be raising budgets

  • And Sauber announce F2 championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto on a " Multi year deal"

  • Good to see Sauber mixing it up. Nothing against either of their current drivers, but they currently have the dullest pairing on the grid

Signing Hulkenburg is the definition of dull. He's driven in F1 for over a decade and not got on the podium once, he's only got pole position once and set 2 fastest laps in that time. He's driven for Haas, Williams, Sauber, Alpine and Aston Martin in their current or former guises, and has done absolutely nothing for any of them.

Typical case of German team, wanting one of their own though... Cant think of any other reason for them hiring him.

He's in the ideal position because Germany have a shite talent pool in Motor Racing at the moment, as the alternative is Mick Schumacher

I wonder if Seb might have been interested…

Apparently Schumi Jr was in the running if they couldn't get Bortoleto

I'd forgotten that Hulkenberg is the other one they signed. But, I dunno, at least he seems to have an occasional good race or qualifying where he's up in the points. I genuinely can't think of anything Zhou has done in his entire F1 career apart from when he parked upside down in the fence at Silverstone. Bottas used to have his moments at Williams but he seems to be more interested in his moustache than overtaking these days and he wasn't very inspiring even when he was in a leading car at Mercedes. I wouldn't say Hulkenberg is less interesting, but also probably not any more interesting.
  • I just hope Sauber signing Bortoleto puts an end to the Mick Schumacher returning to F1 stuff. Let him go off to WEC and form a career over there.

Haha... Yeah right okay... Just wait until Bortoleto / Doohan start making mistakes or having bad results.

The Mick Schumacher rumours will never go away!!

Doesnt help that Doohan impresses me by far the least out of the genuine rookies next season (Not counting Lawson in that), and wont be surprised if he's out after a season or two - But then again I wasnt overly hyped for Lawson either before he got the chance in F1, and he's impressed me... So you never know.

I'm just completely bored of him being linked to every seat at this point. I was kind of hoping James Vowles coming out publicly and saying Mick's data is nothing special would finally end it.

Doohan I find hard to judge, I think he's going to be fine but nothing special. If Victor Martins wasn't so erratic in F2 I actually think Alpine would have gone for him over Doohan , if Doohan struggles I can see Gabrielle Mini coming into the reckoning.

This current F2 car makes it so difficult to judge young drivers now it's a complete nightmare for teams.

  • lol!... Doohan really isn't going to last long in F1.

I know its ANOTHER massive break in the calendar, which really needs tweaking next year what with all these gaps - But looks like there are rumours suggesting that Colapinto will take his seat next year now.

Going to be a long three weeks, with bullshit articles no doubt.
  • Doohan set to be replaced by Colapinto as well, is that a record, being replaced before you even start in the car?

lol!... Is that more than just rumour now then?
  • Niels Wittich has resigned as race director, Rui Marques to step up from F2
  • Aston Martin have also parted company with Dan Fallows as technical director which after the amount of gardening leave and court battles they had with Red Bull to sign him in the first place is a massive failure.

No smoke without fire, apparently Briatore wants to make it happen, they see him as a bigger star for sponsorship, and I think everyone agrees Colapinto is the superior driver.

Makes sense with Newey coming in though, right?

Yeah it's just interesting to sack Neweys protégé to replace him with Newey himself.
  • Wonder how popular this'll be... Looks like its going to be one big Livery launch next season, of course the cars that show up at Bahrain for Pre-Season and then Australia for FP1 will no doubt look vastly different.
