I can remember hanging on to the fence. Shortly after all of the Carlisle fans ran on to the pitch. They had just found out that they had been relegated.
I'm in there somewhere , wasn't on the pitch tho , that was a long long coach ride , plenty of cards played at the back for a few pennies here and there
I'm probably visible but he pic is too small to see! Lovely train up via Settle but pee-ing it down on the way back. It all went off in Wapping that night, just after we got back.
Thanks for posting; think I've found myself in the melee supporting a somewhat bemused Lennie. Bearing in mind the contrasting fortunes that day it's remarkable that there was no trouble on the pitch. Guess they could see that our invasion was good-natured celebration and had nothing to do with their own plight. Brilliant day.
Lucky enough to have seen us promoted up there on all 3 occasions. Went by car to this one but am somewhere near the back of the terrace in that pic.
Great days, I really miss that buzz you used to get in the old days following us home and away. Such cameraderie amongst so many people you only knew by appearance.
if there was a greatest ever Charlton goal competition then Jim Tolmie's would have to be right up there. We were there but to the left of that photo I think. Great day.
I was there, also at the the other 2 promotions, went by train arrived about an hour before kick-off,not much time for a pre-match drink. On the return journey got off the train at Preston found the nearest pub & stayed to closing time & then boarded an overnight train to Euston ,arriving home about 8.30am.
I think local TV up there may have had it, but from recollection when we chased it before they couldn't find the match coverage. Was a great Charlton moment.

For the benefit of those of us who have only been there more recently, were our fans on the covered terrace behind the goal (now home fans) or in an old stand along the side (replaced by the stand we had last time we played there)

I'm in there somewhere. It was my first ever Charlton game and I've been hooked ever since. I went there with ex-husband number one who was also a Charlton fan.

I was also on the pitch. Can't see me in the pic though cos i think i was wearing one of those CAFC ski hats. We wore them from 6am til we got home in the early hours. Greasy hair like never before!!!!

I seem to have put on a few pounds since then.
