  • Great bloke, did a presentation at a night match last season.
On his way back spoke to him, he has a great knowledge of Charlton.
Also as mentioned above great charity work for our soldiers.
Love his right wing humour. Sadly not liked by lefties!

Fascists think he's smashing though, so that probably makes him feel better.
  • Lefty here. Worked on one of his shows once. Very funny. Nice to the crew despite tech problems.

I was a techie when his little stage lighting business was operating in the west end. Completely up himself. Expected us to be thick rightwing knobs like his preferred audience
  • A Charlton supporting conservative, what's not to like. Wish he'd come on here and talk some sense and cheer us up at the same time. Have thought he was he was great from the first time I saw him on TV ( was it New Faces?). Hope to one day meet him at The Valley.

    That bit...

    Beat me to it Algarve!

    Nice people the Tories.

  • Mate went to see him in Skegness and had a great night, my missus has just booked tickets for February when he comes to St Ives Cambridgeshire for my Birthday
  • I'm going to see him next Monday but it isn't my birthday

She transcends all political divides !
  • Jim Davidson is funny and he is a nice straight down the line, take him or leave him sort of bloke but don't agree with his politics. But I can say that about many people.
  • Politics don't agree with me there all greedy self righteous twankers.

He is a naturally funny bloke and very skilled at what he does - basically talking and presenting. He believes in what he says and I assume the people who go to his shows are on the same page in that respect. I think he must make a decent enough living out of it, but would probably make an even better living if he had tried to appeal to more people. I think he would probably say boll***s to that, and is angry about the political correctness that is now prevalent. But I would imagine the demographic of his audience is an older one, and if he kept his politics to himself, and went with the flow a bit more, instead of trying to swim against it to make a point, he would probably still be presenting quite a few shows on tv as he was very good at it!

It isn't just about money though. So if he is happy doing what he is doing, I haven't got a problem with it. But I won't be rushing to buy a ticket. When he stops doing it, there won't be a long queue of the old fashioned comedians waiting to take over. Comedy always moves on anyway! It is just people find it hard to move on with it.
  • A lot of people forget that Jim Davidson was actually a very good presenter in the 90s and can do the family friendly stuff well. But then again he has been there and done that, and I don't think today's generation would accept him being on TV all the time without hammering him - even if he wasn't being 'blue' or 'politically incorrect'

TV these days is all about squeaky clean types like Ant & Dec, and Russell Howard, who whilst I'm sure they're all nice blokes, they all just seem so dull.

He was brilliant on Big Break with John Virgo...

Plus he did really well taking over the Generation Game, is strange as one main lasting memory I have of being a child and watching Saturday Night Television is always of Jim making a really respectful comment about the Falklands Veterans

we could all do the numbers game if it wasnt for 15 years of Labour misrule 1997-2010.....

Charming and typical! Views different to my own - they must be thick! Cringeworthy stuff!!
I think Jim Davison holds a similar but opposite position, so you can't just criticise the position you disagree with.

My point is that people on the right hold similar dismissive views to those on the left so if one thing makes you blood boil, so should the other. I know on good authority that Davidson takes the pee out to left wingers in his act. It doesn't bother me at all - he plays to his audience and I'd be worried if he didn't. I am a left winger and take absolutely no offence from it. And I don't dislike Jim. In fact, I have defended him on here in the past and I do think he is talented. If a person who leans to the left holds a view that the people who go to Jim's shows are thick, he is titled to his opinion though. I do not agree with him. I think there is a difference between being thick and being ignorant.

Davidson is a working class tory. He is that, I am sure, because he has worked hard to get to where he is and resents scroungers and work shy losers spending his tax money. Of course, logic would suggest that Davidson has more reason to be gay if you apply his reasoning, as women have been a far bigger problem in his life. I understand why he holds his views though and I respect him for his talent and the reasons he holds those views. Of course the workshy exist, but they are a tool the right wing establishment uses to club the poor in my opinion. Everything is simple in Davidson's world, and what the Sun and Mail says is gospel.

By the way, I have a mate who is a bit right wing who told me about the show, and his critique was that it lacked jokes. That did surprise me. He said he slagged current comedians off for not telling jokes, then told everybody about his early life which wasn't really all that funny!
  • JD is a legend in the house

I imagine there have been times when he wished he was gay, he'd probably be a lot richer if he was. Having said that I doubt he'd change anything and having a weakness for beautiful women is nothing to regret. What he has done is make the most of his life and his talent, and that is something that he should be very proud of, and something everyone should aspire to.
Anyone know if he's got any shows planned over Christmas? I need to have a good laugh!

Might be a source of regret for your current wife when you are chasing the next one though...
