  • If no fans dance/wave to 'win' a seat on the sofa when asked then it will be very pointless being there with no one on it. Dance/wave boycott!!
  • Is it back? I thought it went before Sheffield Wednesday game
  • That sofa is bad luck and a curse.
  • Took a mate to his first Charlton game yesterday! We sat at the opposite end of the north lower so he didn't see it until I pointed it out in an attempt to distract from the shower of shite being served up on the pitch!

His words were "well that's just embarrassing" and "what sort of footballclub are you?"

That's what we'd like to know!
  • Did the people on the sofa have 2% posters
  • ITS FIXED!!... ;)

Even before the cameras started panning round the Ground, the lady who lets fans know if they've won was already talking to a bunch of kids, telling them to get ready and when to wave so they got their place on sofa
  • I'd just lie down on it and go to sleep.

It really is embarrassing. Sky made sure they made a big thing of it as well for the rest of the world to see.

    Did they?Tell me more...............

  • It would be outrageous if someone lobbed tomatoes or eggs at it.
  • Ok Katrien, you've said you're going to listen to us: Get rid of the bloody embarrassing sofa...please? Ok?
  • Well I for one have always thought it was a tremendous idea, and have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the garden swing and pergola combination to replace the home dugout.

  • It's not a sofa, it's a couch stolen from Roland's psychiatrist.

Then surely he needs to come over here more often?
  • What did Sky say about it?
  • What did Sky say about it?

    Ignored it I think
  • Id still like to sit on the sofa.
  • They treat us like idiots, so I may as well look like one

  • As much as I'd like to see it gone, it's a Harvey's sofa isn't it? They must have a contract for it to be there for the season. Don't suppose KM would be too keen to be in breach of a contract. (As long as it wasn't a contract with a supporter that is.)

Boycott Harvey's until the sofa has gone?
  • living room furniture has no place in football.

I boycott Harveys as a matter of course on account of their reputation.

And finally don't even consider getting "sweaty" on one of their products.

Only when you're watching Charlton on TV.
  • What I say is that people who want to get rid of the Sofa should put their money where their mouths are and buy us a new one! (Possibly a corner unit)
  • OK, I really haven’t thought this through properly but:
Firstly, I’ve for a while knocked buying beer at half time on the head, whether it make any difference to the caterers (Delawere?) I don’t know. It seemed to me a lot less people were drinking and eating in the ground on Saturday. I presume a contract was signed guaranteeing a certain footfall at the outlets which I doubt is being met.
Now when it comes to Harvey’s and their bloody settee is it worthwhile writing to them, if you buy a similar product from a rival firm with a copy of your receipt telling them I would have chosen your firm but you are associating with a regime that is crushing the life out of the club that I love. The same goes with any other sponsors and their products or services. Maybe word will get back to our interim CEO.

It seems that what Harvey's got for providing the sofa was match sponsorship of the pre-season friendly with West Ham, hence the claims at the time that it was part of a bigger sponsorship deal because Harvey's was advertised on the screens around The Valley. In fact, that was a one-off as part of the match sponsorship package. The branding on the sofa surround is minor and if it is perceived to have a value that could easily be provided elsewhere.

Wow, is it really that cheap to sponsor a match? Cost price to Harvey's of that sofa must be about £150.
