Old Charlton fans

Seems the majority of Charlton fans nowadays are old 50/60+ and was wondering if anyone on here is younger than 30? Wondering as no one on here seems to be interested in the ultras scene at all after I started the Champions/Europa League thread. Seems like England has successfully killed a whole genararion of fans age 16-25 seems everyone that age supports a PL team and thinks only the Italians and Turkish have ultras when both countries have lost most of their fan culture. Anyone on here visit games abroad for example? Sad to see that most fans in stadium are families and the elderly. Most other countries for example have an ultras stand where young guys go every weekend to socialise and support the team whereas in England we have kids standing behind Sky Sports deadline day reporters. Desperately need a change and think safe standing is the start. Agree/Disgree?

    And before you start ultras and hooligans are different and having ultras doesn't mean 'returning to the dark ages' at all. Means going to the game and supporting the team while having a good time travelling/drinking /meeting new people just as an oranganised group which makes things easier. whole game in England is commercial and based on marketing, money and brainwashing if you understand, same reason England national team is so poor yet English people think we are an important footballing nation when our national team is average at best and so if the PL. Seems football in England is completely dead and is seen as a TV show by the new generation

    There's only one person on here under the age of 30 and that's, as the name suggests, Greenie Junior.Inbox him; ultras are right up his street.I'd steer clear on the subject of tattoos though.

    I am under 30. Lol charlton fans are old! I guess we are an ageing population then!!

    I no what you mean about the ultras seen etc but I have seen the palace ultras and most of them are in their 70s. It's like dads army down there..

    But I am all up for anything that creates an atmosphere

    I think one of the problems is price. When I started going to football back in the mid 80's an u16 ticket was about £1.50. I know we are quite reasonable on ticket prices but what about prem clubs?

    I've written up games from Brazil, Peru, Italy and erm USA for this site and they've all gone down well.

    There is a respect for the ultra scene on here and there is the odd picture or post but we're Charlton fans. You'll get more appreciation if you post something unique and noteworthy (eg Legia v UEFA, Zaragoza I think and their Simpsons protest) than your bog standard flare and scarves photos

    Sounds like you need to start an Ultra clan for England? 'Ultras' have been around for many, many years, but have now rebranded.......I'm sure many of the CAFC followers on here were going to games with similar outlook to Ultras.

    OLD? OLD????!!!! 57 is the new 27 thank you very much. You should try one of our spiced-up half-time Bovrils in the Upper West if you want to know what living on the edge is like...

    I'm 59 but depending on mood can feel or act anything from 12 - 89.

    I think our flare waving friend would think 27 was too old as well! And he would want his Bovril cold, fizzy, and made by RedBull.

    I'm thinking of bringing my 22 year old Thai bride along as I do feel somewhat guilty for being almost 56.

    I haven't actually found a Thai bride yet (or for that matter told my current Mrs that these are my intentions) but, hey, anything for a good cause.

    Greenie Junior & his pals, started Red Division, a couple of seasons ago.

    All they got, was a load of grief, from Charlton and The Old Bill, so they gave up.

    I'm all for getting our fans, to give us more passionate backing.

    I can't believe how passionless the majority are.

    However, the Palace Ultras are an annoying, embarrassing, joke and I wouldn't want us to be emulating those twats.

    They do make a good atmosphere though. If they were a team from outside of London they would be talked about as a passionate support base that make our fans embarrassing...

    I'm 21 and only really notice the age of our support at away games, but I guess that's partly down to the price of some away games
