Colin I would say that I have in no uncertain terms also been one of those to question JJ on a regular basis, but after y'day there isn't an argument any of us can hide behind. Since Hull we've been very, very poor. I completely get that his first touch bringing a goal got the crowd pumped, and momentum shifted massively toward us after that, but come on, you can't seriously not hold your hands up here and give credit where it is due.
I'm not suddenly going to change my thoughts and say JJ is our saviour, but he was there when it mattered, something even our stand out players like JBG and Watt haven't shown over recent weeks. Regardless of Fulham's defending, that was a great run and great header. He took the initiative, unified the team and lifted the whole stadium when he came on.
I can categorically say that this goal probably deserves more kudos than the deflected winner against Norwich last season. That I felt didn't warrant the superlatives thrown at JJ as it was quite a fortunate goal in a game that we quite easily could've lost under Peeter's negative tactics. This time he deserves all the credit he gets. Having sat on the bench, biding his time, not kicking up a fuss. He really did deliver y'day, I can't see any other way but just to say 'well done' credit where it is due'.

bergdich was toilet for the first 5-10 mins he was on, we almost conceded because he was nowhere to be found in the oppo's half and they were breaking leaving our left side wide open.
I will ask a question if it had been Berkdich or Ba who scored would we be reading the same ????

I'm sorry @colin1961, whilst I agree that JJ may not have the legs he once had, yesterday within 14 seconds he managed, by reading the game, to attack the ball in the area (after making sure the corner wasn't taken till he got in position) and then score with a powerful header, giving all of us hope. I had not seen any evidence of that in the previous 80 minutes with our corners or set pieces, or general play to be honest. To have a player who clearly shows he wants to win and has the respect of the squad makes JJ invaluable. I would start him so we get in the right frame of mind from the off and then sub him after 50 or 60 minutes. Bringing him on at the death of a game may see us having to much to do, when his 'tenacity' and 'drive' used from ko may well see us in the lead...who knows.....but it is wrong to say he got lucky.

No, Colin's right. We should view all our goals through the lens of how we'd feel if we were the opposition fans. As of next week all goals by Charlton players should be met with boos, shouts of 'wanker' and questioning where the defence was. This is perspective.

He made a great run and lost the man...great goal. He also got back to deflect a goal bound Fulham shot wide just before we equalised and was the only red shirt trying to support Watt in the last minute.
The substitution lifted the crowd and his leadership qualities lifted players like Watt, Solly and Gudmunson who were not having great games and their performances improved in the last 10-15 mins. Jacksons legs have gone but if we use him right then he has a massive part to play because of his influence on the pitch. Either start him and play him for 60 mins or an impact sub like yesterday, 90 mins out ok Jacko isn't going to happen that much

I would add, that for the short time he was on he was talking to the players around him, geeing them up, pressing them to get involved in the game and keeping them organised. And they responded. We went from a side with our heads down, to going for the win in the end. This attitude is something that has been missing from our game for some time. That is what he adds - leadership. Football is not just about kicking a ball well and running around a lot, it is about understanding the team dynamic.
Of course he isn't the messiah for all our problems. But he demonstrated what we need in the side week in, week out.
