Walking into the farmers Cooperative to buy some feed for the chickens and noticing they got lavender for 2.40 Euros each, so thinking to meself, if I buy one bag of feed, I can then get 4 more pots of lavender for the drive (We're trying to buy it as and when until we got enough to go down the whole drive). I then notice that the feed is 2 for one, so out I go to the lavender and put 4 pots on the barrow only to find out when I get to the check out that they are also bogof. Time I've raided the ash tray in me van, I've come away with the 2 bags of feed and 18 pots of lavender.
It's these things in life that excite me these days. Use to be getting a complimentary wrap off the lad on the scooter.....
Now prepare to spend two years doing 8 week stints in various departments whilst the current staff begrudge training you knowing by the time you get the hang of the job you are being shipped off to marketing in a fortnight.

Cheers mate! Haha looking forward to it. I'm just glad the application process is over. It's been an ordeal. Initial applications were in September. It's been rumbling on ever since then. 8 stages including online tests an interview and 2 assessment centres.
Actual gold pleases me. I like knowing that 99.8% of all the gold ever mined in the history of earth is still in existence today. That the only place in the Universe it can be created is inside a supernova. And that if all of it were lumped together, that it would fit into a cube 20m in each direction.
That, and the fact it holds its value over the long term better than any currency, ever.

only 20 meters in each direction? Or do you mean miles?
Went out last night and did my first 4-mile jog in nearly 10-years.
Felt damned good doing it and didnt have to use my Asthma inhaler once!!
Well done FA, had you built back up to this distance or just smash it out the park? (don't you dare say the latter!)
Fraid it was the latter... Went out with no intention of doing more than a small jog yet "just a little bit further" turned into a little bit further at each corner and ultimately decided to jog until breaking point so I knew my limit.
It took me 45-mins to do though which was still a pitiful pace by my old standards though.
The best part about running about Strood though was there were no sarcastic comments from the kids out late for Easter Holidays and the fact that nearly every main road I went by I realised that there was another different potential route for the future.

Nicely done, mate. I wouldn't worry too much about the pace, the hardest bit seems to be getting out there.
About 7 years ago I used to be pretty fit, did a lot of jogging and was kept pretty active through hobbies - i.e climbing.
Fast forward to now, and office work, work drinking culture, too much fast food and a 20-a-day habit has meant I've had to start from the beginning. So I began C25K 5 weeks ago.
Biggest issue I've found so far is that I think my pace is the same as it was back then, sadly it's not! (Yet )

Blimey... take away the 20-a-day and you sound just like myself.
Between 2003-07 I was part of the Orpington Road Runners, ran countless races (10k / 10-mile / Half-Marathon Distance) which culminated with doing the London Marathon in '07 which saw me get an embarrassing time.
Went into the Summer still running yet got a slight knee problem out with the club one night so rested up, ran two more races that year but then stopped... 2008 then saw me starting an Office job in London so commuting saw me have no time (along with the drinking culture like you say).
I'm now just going to take each night as it comes and then if I can get my fitness up I'll rejoin a new running club.
Is anyone part of a Running club that they can maybe recommend in the Gravesend / Strood area?
@LuckyReds I'm not far different, but for different reasons!
Last year I ran on through far too many niggles and actually got less fit and more fat as the year went on.
Sure I am not the size of a house, but I could have been in so much better of a place by resting more... but that wasn't what last year was about. (Thank you CL)
@ForeverAddickted You're doing it right so long as you feel you can maintain that pace for as long as you need to.
It's getting out that counts as you begin. That's only a 34 minute-ish 5k run, so I certainly wouldn't beat yourself up about it as you're likely still at around 30 minute mark if you were to nail a parkrun.
For me personally, This years goals are far easier - Get back to Sub 21minute 5k's this summer and Sub 20 before christmas! A big challenge but I love 5k as a training distance and want to move back to that and 10k. (and cut some fat!)
