From the commentary it sounds like we should be pleased with a draw as we weren't particularly at it in the second half and they had a number of great chances.
A point is a point, and after many a game without a draw we get two on the bounce, 1-1 again at that. Are we going to return to being the binary bores I wonder?
On another note, shall I do the commentary every game? I took over from RedM when he had to shoot off and we scored within a couple of minutes :-)
Eagles had a good goal chalked off for offside in the first half which might have changed the game. these things happen, and maybe it was Karma for the JBG goal against Fulham, but it does mean Sheffield Wednesday oughtn't to think they can go on about 'deserving to win'.
Mid table team visits other mid table team in end of season tussle to share the points.
Didn't really sound like there was much else to mention aside from TWWW's great display of sportmanship in injury time. Got applause from all four sides of the stadium.
Sheffield Wednesday fans boo because they didn't beat a team who are above them in the table. Am I imagining it or does everyone always assume that they're going to beat us?

They always assume they're going to beat everyone.

To be fair, I have heard a fair few boos at the Valley when we have not beaten teams above us in the table.

Just see goals on Sky and Gomez stopped instead of playing the ball for Wednesday's goal as it came across the area JBG took his goal well turning inside the defender after Chris Eagles shot was parried by the goalie in slow motion
Anyone bovered ... Not me
Scum lost and they're a step nearer where they belong We're solidly established as Sarf Londons no.2
828 Charlton fans up there today. Very good 1st half by the sounds of things and a wrongly disallowed goal. Did well to come back from 0.1 down in the 2nd half and hold out for a point.

50% 7th-12th ....... 50% 13th-21st
I remember a point in the season where oohaah's percentages were so carefully considered, now he's just throwing 50/50s out there both in terms of percentages and places. He was once Charlton life's league table predictor, moulding his calculations in the way peanuts might predict the horses, or Stig might give us a statistically solid graph.
Now he's donned his holiday shorts and is on the beach with the players
Just on the train home with not much to say other than it was obvious that it was an end of season, meaningless game. Not that I'm bothered, nice to be at a game with no pressure, seen some mates that I don't get to see enough and the weather was half decent. JBG took his goal well, hope we can keep him.
Talkshite mentioned their goal, then the half time score and then nothing so I assumed we lost one nil. Then when rounding up the results we'd got a point. Always thought they were shite but it's now been confirmed.
Happy with that. Can't comment further as I know nothing about the game other than the result.
Game of two halves. We were better in the first, they were in the second. Created numerous chances in the first half, without converting any. Fox's blast from 20yds, Churchino's near post shot, Eagles' offside goal (which appears it wasn't, but it was at the opposite end of the pitch), and finally the shot from a central position 6-8yds out straight at the keeper. Couldn't identify the player from far away, but it looked easier to score.
Pitch was poor and difficult to control the ball on. Having said that I thought our passing in the second half was dire. We continued to underhit most passes, Wendies continually intercepting them. Couldn't really work out why this was.
Worth going just to see Johann rasp one into the roof of the net right in front of us. The keeper made a meal of a pretty weak effort from Eagles and pushed it out wide to Gudmundsson. He still had a lot to do. Pushed it 5 yds in front of him to get a better angle, then it became a race between a defender, the goalie and our favorite Icelander. He beat both and smashed it goalwards, with his trusted left foot, to the rapturous delight of the visiting fans.
Watt came on and was a little frustrating. Tried to go on his mazy dribbles and was caught in possession several times. Needs to look up more and try to involve those around him.
Frustrating end to the game when we were in an excellent attacking position, with Igor and the ball in acres of space in the penalty area out wide when the ref blew for a head injury to a Wendy's defender. Its been a long time since I've seen a properly contested drop ball in the area, but nothing came of it.
Found it very frustrating to watch today. Superb away support rightly singing the library chant often enough. First of all I was surprised to see TWWW not starting. Churchy got himself in good positions to score but he can't bloody finish. Their defence were pretty static first half and I reckon Tony would have scared the life out of them. When he came on 2nd half we posed more of a threat. Eagles was harried off the ball far too easily and I got more and more pissed off with the numerous long balls from Johnson and Solly to Vetokele which invariably meant the ball coming back in their direction. I thought Joe Gomez was immense and Morgan coped with most that came his way. Gudmundsson was my MoM. Deserved his goal and will have done a great deal to enhance his POTY chances. I didn't notice any wasted passes and he won plenty of battles in midfield. The ref wasn't giving him much protection either and he was really having a go at Mr. Bond who was seemingly giving every Wendie's player a license to kill him! Finally, didn't notice much 'activity' from Luzon. All felt like we were going through the motions and he was giving a players like Church, Johnson and Eagles a chance to earn a new contract. By the way Church took of straight down the tunnel he may well feel he's lost his chance.
On the train home after a few post-match jars in the Kelham Island Tavern. We watched the game from the halfway line with a Wednesday supporting mate in the South Stand. Despite Wednesday taking the lead just before half time, all around us agreed that it had been a pretty dismal 45 minutes. I almost began to understand the rationale of the fellow Charlton supporters in the 'Fat Cat' who were unconcerned at missing the kick off (maybe at £13.20 for six pints of Kelham Island Bitter, they had a point).
We had a couple of meaningful strikes at goal in the first half - Churchy did what he usually does and booted one straight at the goalie's midriff, whilst their keeper, Westwood, made a great save from a hard, low strike from about 8 yards when the ball broke to one of our guys in the box. I think it was Eagles but may be wrong. Eagles slid one into the net but looked offside and no one dissented from that decision.
We got an equaliser early in the second half with quick feet and a good finish from Gudmundsson after their goalie parried a shot, After that, they hit the woodwork twice in quick succession and Wednesday's substitute centre forward, Nuhiu (the big lad with the bun) missed an open goal, heading wide when it looked impossible to miss. I remarked afterwards that it had been an unbelievable miss, which was met with the retort that it wasn't unbelievable to those who had seen Nihiu play before. Wednesday were quicker and sharper than us in the second half and, for all the ineptitude on show from both sides, should have put this one to bed.
In short, a very good away point for us.
As to individual performances, no one did particularly well or badly. We failed to get to grips with the game in midfield and although the pitch down our side was really poor, I don't think that was really an excuse. Watt and Diarra both did well when they came on in the second half (particularly the latter).
Not one for the memoirs but the usual great day out in Sheffield and another useful away point.

In the last couple of games, Tony has had a lot of possession and run at opposition defences, but he's struggled to make the space to shoot. I wonder if bringing Church on in the first half was to tire out the defence before letting Tony have a go at them.

VOTE HENDO
I'm pretty sure JBG scoring a goal outweighs Hendo letting one in!... :-)
One of those games I traditionally expect us to lose with the 'we never really got going line', so we'll pleased to avoid defeat.
