Luzon has only won one match in six. That's about 7 wins a season or 21 points if you like, he has had two draws in six, about 14 draws in a season...add it all together and that is about 35 points in a season.
Firstly, I'm going to give GL the benefit of the doubt and remove the Watford game from the equation. He was not technically in charge for that game and had barely had time to take his coat off even if he had been.
If BP had stayed, what were you expecting from the following 5 games? Personally I'd say the best I could have expected would be:
Wolves away - Loss
Rotherham at home - Win
'Boro away - Loss
Norwich at home - Loss
Brentford at home - An optimistic draw
So, 4 points from 5 games. In fact we picked up 5 from 5. Not outstanding by any stretch of the imagination but also not unexpected.
I get that but surely positional changes (very obvious ones like moving Cousins to CM and playing two up front) should have been implemented from day one of his tenure?
They may be obvious to us but Luzon hasnt been here to see them, surely he is allowed time to look at the players he has available, watch them, access their strengths and weaknesses and then work out a style of play that suits them and which they can then practice in training. Hopefully he keeps it up.
What I don't get is that DM & BR must've seen the ineffectiveness of Cousins out on the left and JJ & Buyens in the centre. Yet when GL came in, Cousins remains on the left and one of Harriott or Bulot in behind the striker? The majority of us on here think Cousins should be played in the centre, and if we have to have Harriott in the team (if, I can't emphasize enough), then let's have him out on the wing.
I know we are all armchair pundits who know best, but what has been the fascination with playing Cousins out wide for almost a year and a half now (Powell, BP, GL)
Sitting next to the CEO of your football club you'd be a silly man not to praise the manager they've just appointed, that's not to take away from Luzon's hard working as he has been working tirelessly at the training ground of late from what I hear.
Who says he has been working tirelessly ?
People from within the training ground, speaking to two people on the night, think even JJ may have mentioned it himself.

What I can't understand is that Luzon has basically been in charge since the Watford game and yet Saturday was apparently the first time they played like he wants them to?
What's that all about?
Come on really ?? LVG gas been at UTD since August hes still not got it it right according to some . Luzon needed 2-3 games to see what he's working with that's why he tinkered with team initially. The injury to the Spurs boy meant he's had to change it again and hopefully cousins will stay there
Cos a Footballing Style isnt like a light switch... If your used to doing a task in a job in a certain way for months and one day get asked to do it another way its gonna take a while to kick the old habit

Matthews I dare say may have advised him in the beginning before GL assessed them from his own perspective???
Cant anyone just accept what JJ has said?, why does everything need to be pulled apart and analysed?.
Of course, equally lets accept what Michael Turner said at the Norwich game:
"What's going on down here? I just spoke to some of your lads in tunnel and they're not happy with whats going on."
That doesn't negate JJ's comments though does it?
Nope, and I never said it did.
So why post it?
Actually it does go some way to negating the comments and is completely relevant. In private, the players tell MT that they're not happy. Whilst sitting next to the CEO JJ says that Guy is doing a good job.
Do a bit of source analysis on that and let me know what you conclude.

He said the players aren't happy. That could mean about anything, not simply referring to Luzon. Plus the source was a pissed up Ooohaah!!!

What do you think they were unhappy about? A disappointing choice of pre-match music?

RD's changing of managers every 4 months??? The fact that an experienced Champ manager wasn't employed???

Without tracking down MT we'll never know, but I would have thought it was at least partly Luzon-related.
Whatever gells the squad together is best for the club as the moment. Not sure if JJ is trying to kid us or just PR spin. He's got to motivate the team / club as captain and saying the boss is a third rate (at best) coach is not going to inspire confidence in anyone.
Cousins has done a job on the left, when options were limited. I assume that is why he has been played there. But he is a central midfielder and the lack of drive, pace and energy from our central midfield has clearly been an issue that Cousins looked a solution too. We of course, as has been said, have had the benefit of watching the team over the course of the season to work that out. Luzon hasn't and it is reasonable to give him a few games to figure things out for himself. If it was him that figured out Saturday's line up, you have to be encouraged.

Not really. As VG has said the players could be unhappy about a long list of things but Luzon might not necessarily be one of them.
I thought I was was quite supportive of Bob Peeters, as I am of most of our managers, but the persistence of Bob Playing Jordan on the left was asking for the sack, I do hope guy does well for us and enjoys his time here, I wonder if he will turn out to be the best manager employed by the network, I hope so.

Some get it quicker than others and some are unable to change and have to move on.
Luzon is obviously making progress and winning over the players and then hopefully more and more supporter's.
Well done Luzon.
