I don't want to go to work but still go and do it with the best of my ability. Less whinging and get on with it.. if the above is true ;-)
Whilst don't all agree with RD's plan, he has saved us from administration, new facilities and improving our training ground. He is a businessman and wants to make money, so surely he will want Charlton to be pushing high in the leagues so he makes money? I personally am quite glad we have 'network players.' Would be rather Pawel Abbott or Igor? Frank Nouble or T Watt?
Personally I don't think it's tosh , said it in another post the English players wouldn't be happy with the appointment of Luzon and I make them right.
Certain players wanted a English coach it ain't hard to work out which ones .
The ones who know that an English coach would know that the squad is too weak for the championship.
Exactly certain players know the squad needs strengthening and that ain't gonna happen unless they are within the network and most of these players are mediocre.

On what grounds would they not be happy. None of them have played under him. Is it because he's foreign ? Jose Mourinho doesn't come from Sidcup. If I were those english players I would get my head down. Earn my ridiculous salary by doing what I'm paid for in a job most of us would die for or ask for a transfer. I doubt we'll see the latter.
"Yet Standard Sport understands that a number of players are frustrated that the club did not appoint a man with experience of the Championship, or at least of English football. None of Duchatelet’s three choices since he took control at The Valley in December 2013 — Jose Riga, Peeters and Luzon — had coached in English football, although Peeters had a brief spell as a player for Millwall from 2003-05."
Chris Powell didn't have experience of managing in the Championship (or any level) before he was appointed either.

He'd coached at Leicester for a few seasons under Sven and Pearson though... (oh and he'd played one or two more games than Bob in the English game... and represented the PFA, other than that their backgrounds are all pretty similar though, fair point )

Or Curbishley.
Curbs was Lennie's first-team coach after Flanagan was sacked early in 1990/91, having previously been reserve boss.

….but had spent his entire career in England and the majority it of it at the top level. Oh, and he was Assistant Manager to one of the best sides in The Championship and had spent time as a coach to one of the best managers in Europe (Sven).

Mourinho doesn't manage in the championship and never will, all I'm doing is sharing a bit of info with our fans .
"There is also a feeling within the squad that there is a need for a powerful centre-forward, capable of dealing with the physical challenge of defenders and holding on to the ball to bring others into the game. "
I thought this was an interesting revelation :-)
You mean that Bob's still in town because he's our new striker ?
So did RD actually sack Luzon from SL? Or was it mutual consent?
Still trying to work out the following quote.
“I think the appointment of Guy Luzon will prove to be a very good one for the club. I regard him as an extremely talented coach who has already achieved a lot in his career so far. There were a lot of records broken during his first season at Standard Liège and they had the best defensive record in the League.

Totally OK to compare a Champion's League, UEFA CUP and league winning coach with Luzon.

For a sacked manager, thats quite a reference...
A tale of two seasons! Looked it up and Liege hold the following records for the whole Jupiler league for last season: 9 straight wins (from opening game) 16 games unbeaten Biggest away win - 2 x 5-0 They missed out by losing the final play-off vs Anderlecht even though they had beaten them earlier... Then Duchatelet sells Batshuayi and others for €25m over the summer. Some replacements were good but some weren't and they started rubbish this season. Luzon had to exit sharpish in October because the fans were going nuts.
What's key is his relationship with Watt, Buyens, Ben Haim and Bulot (who didn't play much under Peeters)
After that first season they gave him a two year extension and chose to keep him on the payroll after he left Liege - so he is clearly rated.
Whether he works out with us is another story - we will know soon enough.

I could be (and probably am) wrong.
We might as well get this bloke out of the way now.
Colin 4/1...
