He is under contract to us still end of season ... So they will have to pay for him as well as meet his wages .... Plus he may not fit into the way we are going to play it's going to be more direct football
so when we are losing and playing hoofball will you still be positive?
I've watched highlights of a liege game under Luzon and I know it was only highlights but it did not look like long ball at all!! Maybe the more direct football they mean is the fact Luzon's Liege attacked quickly and didn't piss around passing sideways and backwards just quick insisive football forward

I was not digging out Luzon but wondering if Colin is really comical Ali.
TBH should be a reminder to people to not slate and pre judge any player before he puts on our shirt.
Granted you can be underwhelmed by a signing or be surprised, but some of the slagging off of players (and managers) before a ball has been kicked is ,in my opinion, pointless.
Football is littered with players who perform extremely well at some clubs and are a disappointnent at others.

There's nothing incisive about long-ball football.

I think there has maybe been something lost in translation here.
I think we are expecting "long ball" whereas the translation of "direct" is more that he prefers fast attacking football.
I still think he's overrated, but then I've only been to 4 games this season and seen 1 other on live stream.
He often created issues for Solly by passing it to Solly when he's marked.
Solly then has to boot it off the oppo so it goes for a GK or throw in, thus saving TBH from being the one who concedes a throw deep in our defensive third.
On the odd occasion Solly will knock it past the player and run like the wind or punt it up field.
Also at Fulham Ben Haim was at fault for a couple of the goals. I was 2 rows from the front and Henderson let him know all about it.

Plenty of Liege fans, including on here, have said he plays long-ball and rubbish football. I guess we'll judge for ourselves over the rest of the season. Here's hoping he's got a bit more about him than that.

Some of his last ditch tackles and tackling in general have been outstanding far more often than not. His positioning and confidence on the ball is what is necessary to build from the back.
Added to that, his drives forward to take an attack by the scruff of the neck is an added bonus.
The Fulham game was a mare, we started to slow in general, nobody came off that pitch at half time with a right to say they did well. I honestly would not hold his standard to that game.

Some long ball is OK as it varies the play - as long as you have the target man/men such as Murphy & McGoldrick at Ipswich. Vetokele jumps high for a little fella but is not your ideal target man if playing long ball. I expect to see fast, direct football which, as someone else said, is not the same as long ball.
