  • Etheridge 5 at fault for the 2nd goal. Should have kicked the ball out and prevent drop ball situation.

Wilson 3 contrary to popular opinion has always been shite.

Bikey 5 could have done with a rest. Off pace and missed both tackles and headers. Perfect chance to give Gomez a game in natural position

Ben Haim 7 Mr charlton. Give him the armband

Fox 6.5 much better today. 1 or 2 decent balls and grew as the game went on.

Gudmundsson 6.5 another bit of magic to get us back in it but cannot sustain undoubted quality for 90 minutes.

Buyens 5 poor distribution again today- concerning as this is the best part of his game. Like Harriott last week his own poor touch made him lunge to recover and get sent off

Jackson 5 no doubting his passion for club but simply does not have a consistent presence on the pitch

Cousins 6 needs to be given chance in centre of midfield too easy to predict on the wing

Church 6 looked slightly quicker than church of old but will never ever be a goal scorer. Look at his record

Tucudean 6 5 has improved his work rate considerably since being dropped. think he will turn out to be decent player. always looks better when vetokele plays alongside

Ahearne Grant 6 encouraging he dropped deep to receive ball as rest of team had gone missing by then

  • for those of you watching the match today, your marks please:

Etheridge 6. Did not help in build up to second by failing to hit touch for an injured player

Wilson. 4. Terrible and lots of arm throwing

Bikey. 4. Terrible with no fitness

    Ben Haim. 4. Completely uninterested

Fox. 6.5. Made some good tackles and tried his best, those moaning about his passing should remember he is a Centre Back playing as a Left Back

Gudmundsson. 7. Our best player and did ok

Buyens. 2. Powder puff tackles then sent off.

Jackson. 4. Tries but not at the races.

Cousins. 5. Nothing worked for him but never hid and put in the miles again.

Church. 5. Same as Cousins really.

Tucudean. 6.5. Thought he did ok

Ahearne Grant. 6.5. Promising but too slight and young to make much of an impact at this stage in his development, should be in the U21's learning his trade.

    Pigott n/a

    Ben Haim 7 looked interested.
    Fox 5
Gudmundsson 6.5 well taken goal, looked interested

Etheridge 6 - quite like him
    Wilson 4 - poor
Bikey 5 - always looks a second away from a mistake
Ben Haim 6.5 - looked up for it - shame others weren't
Fox 5 - not great, but not the worst
Gudmundsson 6 - great goal but his corners and free-kick delivery is poor; strange, give his shooting ability.
Buyens 5 - not particularly effective
    Jackson 5 - as above
Cousins 4.5 - out of position again but that shouldn't make controlling a ball or passing it any more difficult
Church 6 - tried as usual, but most of his best work out wide
Tucudean 6.5 - overall probably my man of the match - nice touches but little support

    Ahearne Grant 5.5 lively

Having seen the goals on the TV this morning, I've downgraded my score for Fox.
  • 1StevieG said:

Etheridge - 6 Annoyingly tried to kick ball out to touch when Church was injured but instead kicked it to the centre circle. From the resulting bounce up they attack and score.
Wilson - 5 Poor when going forward.
Bikey - 6 not as steady as earlier season performances.
Ben Haim - 7 as usual steady with some forays in opposition half.
Fox - 3 poor passing, poor crossing, poor marking for first goal.
Gudmundsson - 8 best player by a mile which included a sweet free kick.
Buyens - 4 Looked off the pace and stupid second yellow when done by Marshall.
    Jackson - 6 infective.
Cousins - 6 looked lightweight and some poor passing.
Church - 6 did ok but having to run down wings when not a winger.
Tucudean - 6 some nice ball control but no service.
Ahearne Grant - 6 showed a glimpse of what he can do when he came on.
    Gomez n/a
    Pigott n/a

I hope he doesn't infect the rest with whatever he's got.

  • Hard to pick out any for credit, but here goes.

Etheridge - 5.5 Could do nothing about the goals, as the defence looked like Moses had parted the Red Sea. Competent, if uninspiring.

Wilson - 4 Woeful. Did not defend, did nothing in attack. Looked short of match fitness, and interest.

Bikey - 4.5 Went complete walkabout for Blackburn's second. Not clever enough to play as the spare centre back in a 3.

Ben Haim - 6 At least had the sense to play in his position. Ball control, and passing, the best of the defence. Not faultless, but showed some spark.

Fox - 5 Total lack of confidence. Out muscled for the 1st, but let down by Bikey for the 2nd. Looked happier in the 3, when he wasn't expected to get forward.

Gudmundsson - 6 Our main creative spark, but needed to do more to get on the ball when went to 3-5-2. Cracking free kick.

Buyens - 4 Very poor. His usually excellent short range passing was defenestrated. Was guaranteed an early bath by his stupid 2nd tackle.

Jackson - 5 Tried his best to gee the team up, and I heard him shouting at his teammates on a few occasions. However, he does not seem able to get into the box like he used to. Didn't hide.

Cousins - 4.5 My 2nd favourite player at the club, but this was his worst performance since his promotion to the 1st team. Passing was poor, and did not give Fox the cover he needed when we went 3-5-2. Did, at least, never stop trying.

Church - 6 Looked sharp in the 1st half. Constantly fouled when he rampaged down the left, and looked a threat. Not surprisingly, tired.

Tucudean - 6 Probably our best player on the day. Looked fired up. Constantly chasing down the keeper and defence. Showed some good touches, with zero service. Again, didn't hide.

Ahearne Grant - 5 A decent cameo, showed pace, directness and a little invention.

    Tucudean 6
    Ahearne Grant 6
  • Etheridge 8 Fantastic saves, whoever gave below a 6 is insane!
    Wilson 4
    Bikey 4
    Ben Haim 6
Fox 4 didnt even jump to stop the first goal
    Gudmundsson 7
    Buyens 4
Jackson 4 sad to say he brings nothing to the team, not even leadership anymore, last season he kept us up by making the other players push forward but now he has little spirit himself.
    Cousins 5
    Church 6
Tucudean 5 would have given higher but kept on being caught offside and at times well offside
Ahearne Grant 6 looked decent, surprising to see a 17 year old being the only one going for it

    Gomez n/a
Pigott n/a how can a youngster expect to get into a championship side when he doesn't even try? Finally given a chance again and sadly wastes it.

  • Etheridge 5 Will improve with games, but I would prefer an experienced number 1 if Hendo is out long term not Ujpest's 3rd choice.
    Wilson 5 Wasn't effective today
Bikey 6 Beginning to lose his cult status
Ben Haim 7 Was up for it ,shows some passion
Fox 5 Loses a mark for the first goal
    Gudmundsson 7 Our creative spark
Buyens 5 We have a problem covering his absence next week
    Jackson 6 Kept going
Cousins 5 Don't like him on the left
Church 5 Didn't take his opportunity . Millwall bound?
Tucudean 5 Frustrating player as others have said maybe not suited to English football.

Ahearne-Grant 6 Showed some interest when he came on

Admittedly a harsh point of view, however on 2 or 3 occasions during that time cousins (or maybe different players) had the ball and Pigott made no attempt to get into space and stood behind a defender and thus cousins eventually lost the ball. If I was a young player I would use all 6 of those minutes he was on for to send a message to the management to get me more game time. Grant (although on for much longer) was straight away looking to make an impact even after the rest of the team had seemingly given up.
I'm not saying Pigott is terrible based on those 6 or so minutes but it would benefit him more than anybody else if he still gave it his all in those 6 minutes, and surely he should be thinking that last year he played several league games and that he should try to step up to get that place again.

Pretty much how I've felt almost every time I've seen George play this season.
  • Etheridge-6 doing ok
    Wilson-5 looked rusty
    Bikey-5 looked tired
    Ben Haim-6.5 played ok
    Fox-5 some good, some bad.
Gudmundsson-7 only quality on show for reds.
Buyens-5 like most of crowd didn't see 1st booking.
Jackson-5 the ball was played around him.
    Cousins-5 passing was poor
Church-6 at least he looked up for it.
Tucudean-5 oh George, why are you so hot or cold,
Ahearne Grant-6 was lively at first, then chasing shadows with the rest of our team.
    Gomez n/a
    Pigott n/a

I'm like the rest of the loyal CAFC fans finding it really hard going to games at moment,
but hope our play in the 2nd half against Cardiff can come back soon.
  • Etheridge - 7: did pretty well
Wilson - 4: a really poor performance. Looked disinterested and probably knows he's on the way out.
Bikey - 4.5: ill-disciplined, out of position and lackadaisical. An excellent first half of the season but this was a pantomime-style performance. He also looked to be carrying some excess timber. If he keeps this up we'll certainly rue the loss of Morro on a free
Ben Haim - 7: helped hold us together until the second goal went in and our heads dropped. Very good use of the ball in the first half
Fox - 5: flat footed for the first goal, although Taylor got the run on him and Wilson gave the winger all the time in the world to put the cross over. Some decent interceptions
Gudmundsson - 7: our main threat
Buyens - 4: his brainless sending off left us even more impotent and made the last half hour even more excruciating to watch
Jackson - 5: tried to rally the team but the game passed him by and he couldn't get near the ball. He and Buyens are too one paced as a combination
Cousins - 4: never gave up trying but a really poor performance. Could do with a breather - not that there's the remotest chance of him getting one
Church - 6: a good first half, in which he ran the channels well and exposed them down the left wing once or twice
Tucudean - 5.5: a good first half but (unsurprisingly) faded
Ahearne Grant - 5: a few nice touches but the game was up by the time he got on.
  • Etheridge 7 Looks a little unorthodox at times but did well
Wilson 5 Shame but he let Conway dictate things
Bikey 5.5 Looked to be labouring at times
Ben Haim 6 Some disappointing distribution but best defender
Fox 5 Despite shortcomings in possession he at least made several tackles and headed clearances
Gudmundsson 7.5 Our only effective threat
Buyens 4 He's had some fine games but second booking was just plain lazy
Jackson 5.5 One excellent through ball early on but struggled to impose himself
Cousins 5.5 Always tried but still out of position. Conway - their left winger - repeatedly got behind us and crossed
Church 5.5 Typical of his previous appearances really - energy but little threat
Tucudean 6 I understand he was woeful at Ipswich but for the second home game running he at least got about them; much more spirited than in the past
Ahearne Grant 6 Brought an immediate impetus to the attack before Buyens ruined it for him
