I would like to buck the trend a bit. The Manager played the best available Goalkeeper, who proceeded to give the points away with two ridiculous charges out of goal. I thought Gomez looked a real talent for the future, and Solly did not disgrace himself playing in an unusual position for him. The referee was crap, and I guess 60 years of watching Charlton makes you immune to disappointment, in so much that when the late free kick was given I said to my Grandson, here comes the late equaliser. It looks as if January will tell us a lot about what we can expect in the near future.
I rarely post twice on these threads but this comment really got me:
Just give the lads a break....they're doing their best. And if that's not good enough, then go support Chelsea - if you can afford it. You'll no doubt witness some great football( and some diving !) but may have to take out a 2nd mortgage on your house !
Thing is Fanny you are missing the point by some distance. this is a fans site where all and sundry come on and express opinions and they are all different. I personally see nothing wrong with pointing out reasons why we are disappointed, annoyed and all the other adjectives you can think of when the team under performs or throws away two points to a team that should have been buried by the 80th minute. This doesn't mean we are "lesser" supporters or not behind the team we are just using our site to vent our frustrations at what we see and have a debate. It's what mature grown ups do!
Its difficult to have a plan B when you barely have the squad depth for a plan A.
Progress on last year - definitely. Progress slower than our good start initially gave us hope for - without a doubt. It'll take a couple more decent transfer windows to get us to kick on and actually have options.
But even with that all considered you've still got to beat fucking Blackpool, the joke of a club, when at home.

Blackpool are unbeaten in 4 now, we've managed to catch them when they're no longer a pushover

True, but if you could pick 2-3 teams from the whole division you'd think we could beat at home they would be on most peoples lists.
I think Igor and to some degree Bulot are now experiencing a bit of fatigue. I think we forget how much more of a faster pace they have had to adapt to in English football.
Still fuming about it now. Thought Tbh very good for the game but what was he thinking going through the back of someone so late on? No marking for the free-kick and Pope caught out for both goals. First punch particualrly, woeful.
Thought Bikey had a poor game, aided by dreadful miss in last minute, but him and tbh have been a major reason why we've drawn so many rather than lose this year so a poor game is fine.
Solly played like a right back in CM- which he was. Gomez clearly a real talent- but his future is at CB and why change Solly- no idea. JBG anonymous for large parts, real shame cos when he's on the ball, one of the few players I think can actually do something.
Thought Igor battled away, but was not his day. Should of been subbed for KAG
Haven't been a fan of Buyens recently but he was my MOM
Why we didnt go and kill the game off and play with the same intensity we did at 2-2 is what infuriates me. If we can't beat the serial losers of the division, a team of rejects, who can we beat!
Like a lot of people, I feel frustrated with the performance on Saturday. I just cannot understand why we sit back and absorb pressure when we go a goal in front at home against a very poor Blackpool team. We should have gone for the kill and had the game wrapped up well before they equalised. Its not the first time it has happened this season, we have done it almost every home game and it is just getting rather frustrating to watch sometimes.
I understand that this is probably our best tactic away from home, with our squad being very thin and us having enough pace to counter teams on the break, but at home?
I'm not going to slate any of the players or Bob, as I am actually quite enjoying this season and think we have done very well so far. Such an improvement over the dire crap we had to endure last season. Just a bit more confidence and positivity would be nice.......
Fair enough, guys. I take all your points on the chin & would never disagree with the fact this forum is for ALL to post their thoughts, negative or positive.
What I do take issue with is "supporters" stating they 'll think twice about coming to the next game , those booing the players/manager off the pitch & the abuse that appears to be coming from all areas of home support, albeit from the minority. Is the situation SO bad, the matches SO boring, the players SO crap that real fans resort to voting with their feet ?
Maybe I am looking for excuses that aren't real. Maybe I AM wearing rose tinted specs. Maybe Forest fans whose team has a very similar record to us thus far are posting the same kind of comments on their forums.....and weren't they one of the Clubs highlighted as promotion candidates ?
Many seasons ago when our children were younger, we all came to The Valley for every home game ( as well as Selhurst & Upton Park) If we lost, or threw away a lead, I'd be in a right old mood for the rest of the weekend and the kids would avoid me if possible. Years later, I guess I must have mellowed or perhaps I am mature enough (?) to examine the situation unblinkered. I'm still a bad loser but things are more grey now, rather than black or white....
Henry has mentioned once or twice that this season is going to be a bumpy ride. I'm already buckled in, sick bag at the ready and I know there are many others with me.

I think this is the issue Fanny. In the large part I agree with everything you've said, because I take a long term view and I think people forget or perhaps weren't aware just how bad things really were this time last year, prior to takeover.
On the whole I am massively happy with everything that we have achieved since RD has come on board. He's invested, what he thinks is a suitable amount in the team, club & management. It's probably not going to be enough to take us up, but it is an improvement on where we were and on our day, we can compete against most teams.
Unfortunately, for a few reasons, we haven't got the results recently. It is frustrating because I thought we were really good against Ipswich for example bar the final act.
Yet for me Saturday's result was really poor. Personally I have kept my criticism to just Saturday, but I can understand for others it is probably a culmination of recent weeks. The bit I highlighted in bold was me until this season, I used to come home in a foul mood after a defeat and it would take me days to get over it. Now, because of the progress I have seen this season, I'm not getting like that after a defeat and do remain positive.
On the whole we are in a good place, but we do not need a little injection in Jan to keep us there. I'm not expecting or thinking we have a right to more investment, but hopefully everyone can see we will bob around mid table (or fall a bit lower) if we don't.

Definitely mellowing FF which I can relate to. Nobody hates not winning more than me but I came away from the ground on Saturday resigned to the 'I've followed them all my life they don't shock me anymore' state of mind. And to put some perspective on things I would have taken this league position coming up to Xmas at the start of the season compared to what we had to endure last season with the very real prospect of relegation. We have only lost 3 league games all season!
We are not going to play teams off the park scoring at will because we don't have the personnel to do that. We try and hold on to what what we have, unfortunately unsuccessfully on a number of occasions. So yes the draws from winning positions are becoming tiresome but with the squad we have I will take those all day long with the odd win so that we can get to that 50 point 'safety' level as soon as possible.
I feared for the worst last season, that is behind us thank goodness. My wish for this season was that we get a decent foothold in this league ready to mount a serious challenge for the Prem as we build. We are in a much healthier state as a football club, all we need now is one or two additions to the playing squad to make us an established top half championship side whether this transfer window or in the summer remains to be seen. COYRs
Family reasons prevented my attendance on Saturday so I make no comment directly about the action (lack of) on the pitch.
However my view is that, for this particular game, many fans had unrealistic expectations as to how easy it was going to be to beat Blackpool.
It's not entirely their fault. We've had the best part of half a season of the media telling us that Blackpool can barely raise a side and that some young bloke in a kiss me quick hat just emerging from the Pleasure Beach on his holiday has been signed up to play in the next match to make up the numbers!
Those of us with a few years under our belts have long known that Charlton are at their best as underdogs under the radar. Make them favourites or give them publicity and they crumble like moles in daylight.
This is Charlton and the realistic hope in the first instance is that there are three worse teams in the division. If we find that is in the fact the case (which is by no means certain in such a tight division) we look beyond that.
Margins are narrow in the Championship and two or three bad results can transform the season into a relegation battle. Conversely with two or three good results the play offs are in sight.
Perhaps my post straight after the game was a little negative. In reality, after a few days to have a think about it, I am happy with where we are at the moment. Unlike others, I am really enjoying this season.
However, the reason I am getting frustrated is that although it is good so far, it could be so much better!
I have a feeling that this will be remembered as the nearly season for me, an opportunity missed perhaps ...
It's the late timing of conceding that causes most anger in early posts, those that take time after the game to consider are normally a lot calmer but the point and sentiment is often the same
My worry is we are a few injuries or sales away from looking at the wrong side of the table, as we won't be investing in new players if we are not in contention, not to say we won't get any new ones but no investment into them, to be looking at the top quarter of the table. The fact we are playing players quite clearly out of position is a major sign in all of this.
I think Igor and to some degree Bulot are now experiencing a bit of fatigue. I think we forget how much more of a faster pace they have had to adapt to in English football.
Did you mean Bulot or Buyen? I think Buyen is still suffering from the higher tempo at this championship level

I did mean Bulot but agree with Buyens as well.
And would these players and a couple of others normally be looking forward to a mid season break ?
I know where you're coming from @Fanny Fanackapan and as a fully paid up, card carrying member of the optimistic brigade I almost always agree with what you say, but I was unusually fed up about Saturday.
Mrs Davo and I had been up in Nottingham visiting her daughter on Thursday and Friday. We got up at the crack of sparrowfart on Saturday so I could drive my wife home to Wokingham in Berkshire, before braving the M3 (nightmare) and M25 to pick up my son at Greenhithe and make it to the Valley in time. All fine so far - but then we get a side which Bob failed to set up properly to go for a win against very weak opposition, a poor all round performance and having to settle for yet another point when 3 were very much there for the taking. Cue an hour and a half drive back home to Berkshire with deep disappointment pervading.
I've supported Charlton for about 50 years so nothing about them ever really throws me. But then I read Bob's comments on the OS in which he seems to believe that we actually played well! It's one thing playing badly, holding your hands up and saying sorry; it's another to either kid yourself or try to kid the fans that we played well and were unlucky not to win. I found that just too much.
When Blackpool took the lead, I thought they would just shut up shop, park the bus, park the kit van in front of their goal and not give us a sniff. But we got the penalty and got level and then went ahead but we could not quite hold out this time. But it does put some kind of perspective on it.
Suprised solly is getting pelters. Our midfield played very well I thought. Our problems were clearly in attack and in goal.
The most frustrating thing today was how beaten blackpool looked when we went ahead. Pope had nothing to do all game but still managed two disastrous error's.
Vetokele was a pile of wank. He didn't really look that up for it. Harriot was frustrating but at least he got on the ball.
I really liked seeing solly in that midfield role. He linked with gomez very well and provided additional cover at the back and forced their midfield in to countless mistakes. He is so good on the ball it makes sense to play him where he gets plenty of it.
Solly did well in an unfamiliar position but if we're going to see both him & Gomez playing why not Solly at LB until Wiggins is ready to return ?

Our first choice 11 is strong, but beyond that we are lacking in any kind of depth. One injury to a CM and we end up playing a RB in there!
Igor seems to be lacking fitness/confidence at the moment, can't help but feel for him given the lack of support and service he is getting up front.
Still fuming about it now. Thought Tbh very good for the game but what was he thinking going through the back of someone so late on? No marking for the free-kick and Pope caught out for both goals. First punch particualrly, woeful.
