  • Angry and depressed before I went along due to a bad morning and a family dust up. Hoped for a pick me up. Now said family with whom I have made up since I got home won't let me near any sharp objects or the medicine cabinet. That was piss poor. Tactics awful, square pegs in round holes and a total disregard for entertainment. This season is getting to be a harder and harder watch. Zero pace and no forward momentum. Blackpool were unbelievably poor yet we only fashioned one decent chance all game. Don't forget we scores from a penalty (I'll need to see it again before in convinced) and a speculative twenty yarder. Boring boring boring. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  • after last Saturday a number of you commented on how good Pope was with crosses, funny the difference a week can make

I bet they hate the dead hand of the system they're expected to conform to, without flair grinding out a result.

    You mean tactics?
  • Poor performance, brings back memories when we lost to Swindon in 2000...

Nick Pope was at fault for the goals (Although marking was terrible) yet he's a young lad... He'll learn and he'll become a great goalkeeper one day.

Andre Bikey was unfortunate to be the player in that position at the end because he's a Defender for a reason, had that been Vetokele Im sure a lot of comments would be different.

Chris Solly... Lad definitely had a free role as he was all over the Midfield today and I thought he was quite good there (future possibility maybe as played a gorgeous through ball to Buyens at 2-1), early days as a captain yet we seriously seemed to miss Jackson's leadership today.

For those who claim that we refused to shoot I have to applaud Blackpool for that, they're in deep trouble and are going to throw bodies in the way, i.e. whats the point of shooting only for it to be easily blocked.. might as well just give them the ball.

Overall today though I think the biggest issue was Coquelin... Not blaming him in the slightest but with him only being recalled by Arsenal yesterday that would have thrown a huge spanner in the works, Peeters will have worked all week on a style to beat Blackpool that would have included Coquelin... for him to be recalled at such short notice would have been a huge blow and for me is why we looked so poor to begin with as the players got used to the change

He's a young (second choice) 'keeper learning his trade, he is not the complete article yet nor should he be - people expecting him to be Neuer are deluded.
If he still making mistakes learning his trade then perhaps he should not be doing that in our first team. Just a thought.
And our other reserve keeper that is 'possibly' better than Pope is???
  • I am just so angry over that result. Despite poor team selection and positioning we still did more than enough to win it. In the second half I thought we were a level above them and the only way they would score would be a set piece and so it proved. And the miss at the end...so frustrating.
  • a lot of you blame Pope for the loss, but Bikey apparently didn't track the runner for their 2nd goal and then missed an apparent open goal???

I wasn't calling for him to be dropped I was just throwing the thought out there. We have just signed a keeper on loan anyway havent we?
  • Pope was a shambles. He should forfeit this week's wages and give them to charity for that display. I have actually been very impressed with him but he essentially gifted them a point. That was totally unacceptable and I am glad that I only paid £2 to watch it from the East Stand. Bottom of the league who looked utter dross yet we still didn't win. It is an improvement from last season but the manner in which we lose these points isn't good enough. I don't care how old these players are, those mistakes were the sort of thing which is deemed sub par at an under 12's game!
  • The game finished 2 hours ago and I still can't work out what formation we played.

I am a fan of Bob but he got it completely wrong today. The formation change simply wasn't needed. Bring Cousins inside, Wilson on the right and JGB on the left and you have solved the problems Jackson's injury and Coquelin going back to Arsenal gave us.

We were so flat today it was frightening. The absolute polar opposite of the first half at Forest.

Feel sorry for Igor, he gets zero service and is also getting some "treatment" from centre halves.

Pope has looked nervous in every game I've seen him play for us and I am seriously concerned what that display will do to him. He had an absolute nightmare and the second goal is going to haunt him. He's now cost us 3 goals this season in the few appearances he's had - how long till Henderson is fit?

We've done the Fox thing to death, but I just do not rate him at all. He looked like he didn't want the ball today. He is so uncertain in possession and constantly gives the ball away. I have to say, if Wiggins is some way off I'd be looking to recall Holmes-Dennis. He can't do any worse.

A really really bad day at the office. I'm still hanging onto the fact that we have only been beaten 3 times this season and am certain we will do something early in the transfer window.

Thought he was good against Forest last week. If you want young players to come through the academy then you need to be ready to give them game time at some point. They wont be fully formed on their debut they're going to have to make mistakes to learn from them, it's a long term process. It's obviously disappointing to not get three points from every single game, but we need a little perspective - presumably we're all in this for the long term and one game isn't that much in the context.
  • cafcnick1992 I don't think so. Like I CLEARLY stated in my post those mistakes were the sort you see in some Sunday league muck about. Every player makes errors but today he made two glaring mistakes. If you had read my post properly you would have seen that I have actually been very impressed with him prior to this due to his age. Read my post properly before you say I am unrealistic.

Id say get polish Pete back. He' can't do any worse than George. And Igor has hardly been on fire the last 2 months

Opinions like this make me want to kill myself. Thank God you are not our manager
How can you say that when we haven't see him play? People keep getting given chances and aren't taking them? So why not give him a go? Bit of a dramatic response to be honest
  • Would much rather see us push on for a big win rather than sit back and await the inevitable. If we lose a lead under those circumstances so be it,but this negativity isn't exactly bearing fruit. I truly hope Roland is giving big Bob an earful.

  • Like school boy football no shape,no width particularly early on, so many players out of position. Why play one of the best right backs in the division in midfield.Peeters needs to wake up and smell the coffee, honeymoon period well and truly over.

Some very poor individual performances today against a poor side gifted 2 easy goals.

  • Still seething - threw away points against a poor side. If Pope plays like that again then drop him.
We carry v little attacking threat.

Meeeeehhhh, I've got children and don't know if I like Charlton after what happened today...

Nerrrrrr, me too, I don't know if my massive focus on them can take this anymore...

I putting my ST on the bookshelf, yeah, the bookshelf, and I don't know if I'll ever pick it up again...

If you don't want to go anymore:don't. No one will notice. It was poor, it's happened before and it will happen again, stop being so precious.

Fecking rose tinted gang ! It's all ok, don,t panic. It's shit you want to watch it go ahead, don,t slag us for saying we are fed up. Was fed up in the 70.s 80.s 90 .s 200.s and now ! So take your view an Feck Off

An you would fecking notice because the place would be fecking empty !
  • fustrating to watch if we took it to them they would have crumbled
  • A tedious 0-0 stalemate masquerading as a 2-2 thriller. Charlton are bottom of the Championship table for shots per game and Blackpool twenty second. You could see why this afternoon. The most remarkable thing about today's game was that two sides which carry no goal threat managed to score four goals between them.

It's no surprise that Bob Peeters wants to play Joe Gomez. Other players in the squad must look at him and think life simply isn't fair. I didn't think he played that well today, but at seventeen it simply shouldn't be possible to have his athleticism, pace, power, technical ability, time on the ball and football brain. He has the potential to be a truly exceptional player.

On the other hand, it was a surprise to see Chris Solly line up in central midfield. Some full backs can make that transition, but Solly has never struck me as likely to be one of them. Based on this afternoon's performance, I haven't revised my opinion. Not his fault. Strange selection.

Peeters can't think much of Bulot.

Think he's realised that bulot isn't very good. That was obvious from day one
  • Ref was toilet and didn't think fk for goal was a foul let alone a yellow. Free header not keepers fault. Gomes did well despite JBG going missing in defence. Why pelters for George? Only on for 20 but one on target and assist for Bikey miss. Poor not to press forward against a side with no threat, conceding both from (zonal) set pieces again.

  • Peeters can't think much of Bulot.

    My thinking too, Mundell.

With Coq gone and Cap'n Jacko injured, in order to give width and creativity, the midfield logically should have lined up:

    Gud/ Buyens/ Cousins/Bulot

Perhaps Bulot isn't showing up well in training.
Or doesn't really want to be here? Dunno, but something seems amiss.

Gawd were bottom of the shots per game, were relegated unless we have meaningless pot shots at the keepers like others when they face us.

Were 10th in the table... 5-points from the Playoffs thats all that matters.

The shots per game is just a stat to satisfy the armchair pundits
  • I keep trying to convince myself that if we put a little run together, we could be back in the mix. But I can't see where the next win is coming from. Just what sort of formation was we playing today? Who was playing in what position? Square pegs in round holes for me today. And that miss from Bikey .... 'Kin criminal. My son turned to me and said grandma could've scored that. Happy Christmas everyone.
  • Sometimes it's like watching Arsenal.... you know what I mean, 15 passes but no end product. Why did it take till the last five minutes before we started putting first time crosses into the box. Solly was excellent, as was Gomez, but why play Solly in the middle? Mind you I think even if we had Messi playing we still couldn't score. Not an excuse but that referee was absolute shite! Not a clue! Personally I think we have missed the boat and can see the second half of the season carrying on to mid-table finish.

Before the Millwall game we were speaking to a long-standing club official and moaning about the lack of a striker and he assured us that the club were aware of the situation and intend to get at least one player in in the New Year but will it be too late? I know I'm not alone when I say that we should never have let Yann go, it's a no brainer really. And please...I have "got over it" but that still doesn't mean what happened was right and we have been paying the price ever since. More of the same to come I'm afraid guess we'll just have to get used to it. But for gawd's sake, ONE friggin home win since September!!!! Oh well, I can't make the Boxing Day game so we will defo win that one!
  • The body language of the team was not good. I guess a run of lost leads and narrow defeats is taking its toll on players confidence.Igor looks a shadow of what he was early in the season.
RD missed a trick when he failed to reinforce a good start in September. At the time I said this was a stupid business decision and now predictably we have lost all momentum.
If we are in the bottom half of the table in January what incentive does he have to buy new players?
There are no real standout teams in this division.A couple of good additions in September would have seen us in the top six.I fear this season will now go down as a massive lost opportunity.
