Fair enough. I'm sorry to have bothered you, it was only my intention to be part of this community and share what I had with you guys. I'm sorry that I have upset you.

I won't let a few fans put me off supporting Charlton Athletic though.
  • Blimey. That escalated quickly.
  • Don't mess with the Excel Division hard core. Many a formula have been #REF'd by Spreadsheet End Choir.
  • I couldn't open your spreadsheet RR but think you are being a little thin skinned as you only received negative comments from two people, so why don't you stay and contribute

think I'll stick to the Statbank,

I'm happy to stay and contribute, I just don't want to drag my business through the mud. I have removed the link to the spreadsheet, and I will remove the spreadsheet from my website. I'm happy to stay on the forum and take part in the discussions, even though some people think that I should rather support Palace.
  • Please stay RR, we need the dues!!!!

Seriously, have you seen my flag count on here. I take it as a matter of personal pride to piss off as many of the grandees on CL as possible.

    Carry on the good work.
  • No one said you should leave. I made come suggestions about the spreadsheet and Henry said that it was not for him.

At the risk of adding fuel onto the fire, if you do leave as soon as it looks like you might not pick up any business for your company, it will make it look like you didn't want to be a member of our community but just wanted sell to us!

I did say that I would be interested in an unprotected copy of the spreadsheet so that I could change it into something that I would want to use. Clearly I was not going to employ you to make me a bespoke version if for no other reason than that I would want to play with it to make different comparisons.

Having said that I could have built one of my own and the fact that I haven't clearly emphasises that it is not a significant priority to me.

So, feel free to stay on here - I mean don't leave on account of me, and feel free to share anything that you think might be of use to those on here. Just bear in mind that some of the CL members work in IT and/or have IT degrees so are going to have thoughts and comments about what you produce.

At the same time, if you did only come on here to sell services to the members I wouldn't be offended - but it's not up to me.

For everyone else, I seem to have a copy of the spreadsheet on my PC so if anyone is interested in seeing it - and it is useful and interesting - PM me.
  • Thanks kings hill addick - It was not due to your comment. I do appreciate your comments. In fact, I am working on the 'not allowing a fixture twice' suggestion at the moment.

My main intention was to join the community, not to sell. I am new to this club and I want to be part of it. I will put the spreadsheet back up online once I have made this change (and removed some of the advertising). I obviously want people to know where it comes from, but my main incentive is to share this info with you guys.

Besides, I can't figure out how to close this account so I may as well contribute. :-)

  • RR, I'm gonna need some help with mine ;-)

OK, thanks to the suggestions of kings hill addick, I have upgraded it so that you are not able to select the same fixture twice.

Here is the new direct link - http://spreadsheetsolutions.pw/download/1622/

    Enjoy!

You should be able to use it with Excel 2010 & 2013, and possibly 2007 although I haven't tested it. Other spreadsheet programs like Open Office probably won't work.

if you want to get back in the good books RR design a spreadsheet on engine, carriage numbers and engine types that have serviced the dartford loop since 1923 ...they will all be putty in your hands after that and the odd advert for business will go unnoticed i can assure you

Hold on Lolwray think I've got one of those... Oh bollox pre 1923 AND some of the engine types are blank, bugger!!

Put a link to it on here so we can all see, please
  • @RichRed I don't suppose you have ever been to ABC Networking Bromley meeting?
  • No problem...

If it doesn't work IA don't worry I made it up.

Thanks. This is very interesting. Didn't realise some of those engines operated on the dartford loop before 1927, never mind before 1923

Yes I have. Guilty as charged.

I actually regret joining this group and sharing this spreadsheet now. I just thought that others may enjoy it, I didn't want to upset anyone. I am a new fan and was excited about supporting Charlton.

Rich stick with it mate.. There are some right idiots on here who speak without thinking! I for one like the spreadsheet thought it was cool and a nice way to compare seasons.. I also understand what you mean by hidden dad a having been born after 1920! And as for the advertising I can look past it.. I understand that when your running a small business you need to take every advertising opportunity you can get especially if it's on a bit of work you've done for free...

There are some top people on here and it's great for following Charlton.. you seem to have been given the Charlton life baptism of fire.. but I think you'll learn to love it!

  • First rule of Charlton Life Fight Club:
If you havent had a row with Henry Irving you're doing something wrong.
To do so on your first thread is spectacular and deserves an award!
In all seriousness, analysis about results, attendances and squad development all helps frame the discussion about the journey ahead...
Many thanks @Stig‌ for the update as it show very clearly that the time taken to reach 40 points will define our season. I still maintain we are on a path for 65-75 points but our chances of 75 have shrunk with all the recent draws.
Looking forwards to Blackpool which should be fun... I hope all, including the OP enjoy the game.
  • Except that in your desperate rush to put the boot in you overlooked the fact that I didn't have a row with him. I made one comment which rich red was quite happy with and said so

    But carry on trolling.
  • You not had breakfast this morning Henry???
  • You not had breakfast this morning Henry???

    Yes thanks.

It's the trolls like silly red and IQ54 who are starving for attention so I thought I would throw them a bone.

    back to ignore mode now

You knob - what's the official definition of Troll by the way ?
  • I'll answer my own question - this definition seems to add up:

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]

Does this qualify ? It seems to have nothing to do with the spreadsheet and was clearly provoking....

Stopped when I saw the link to your personal blog.

I'm sure it's something you feel strongly about but for me personally it is a big negative.
