Immense deals on there for any type of holiday, can't reccomend it enough.

Just booked 3 nights in a 4* hotel, return flights to Venice with the mrs for 110 each.

That's a bargain, will keep an eye on there, cheers.
All the city breaks are really cheap at this time of the year.

  • Depends on what time of year you'll be booking too. What temperature do they like?

Im a massive fan of Greece, great food, weather, generally reasonable pricing (though this will differ in high tourist areas), and decent people. Has the history and the views you're looking for too. Summer will be more expensive and around 35 between July-Aug. Temps can drop down a bit but even through to November it can stay above 20. May-June can be nice but the weather is a bit more unpredictable with storms etc.

The Pelion Peninsula on mainland is lovely and a little bit off the beaten track. A car is probably needed to get the most out of it tho.

Do they want to go away for Christmas?

    Morocco is cheap

I agree with this, depending on when they are going, but I would recommend all inclusive in Agadir, beautiful, long beach, people very friendly. If you can afford all inclusive they will not need to take much, if any money with them. Check the world weather service for where the good weather is and when. I hope wherever you pick, they thoroughly enjoy thereselves.
  • It's not so relaxing but Istanbul is amazing! Pretty cheap too
  • Portugal, we went just above the Algarve - spectacular
  • I surprised my Mum & Dad by booking 10 days in Barbados starting next week (cost a bit more than a bag o sand tho). Me parents aren't going, they split up decades ago, I'm taking my girlfriend but the look on their faces when I told em was priceless - absolutely made my Christmas, I'll send em postcards obv, I'm not a complete bastard.
Season's greetings and good will to one and all :)
  • @StigThindercock: Bermuda's better tho!

So, do you know for sure that they have passports and that they aren't about to expire? Do you know the precise details on their passports so that you can complete the advance passenger information with an airline?
Probably best to ignore the Vegas suggestion unless you have sufficient info to fill in their ESTA applications for the US (or you know they already have ESTAs).
Do you know they can afford to shell out on their spending money once there or are you picking up that tab as well? Otherwise they might end up resenting the fact that you've sent them somewhere they can't really afford to be.
    Holiday/healthcare insurance?
    Sorry, I know, I'm a killjoy aren't I?
Perhaps a weekend somewhere posh in the UK might be a more realistic proposition? ynyshirhall.co.uk/

    Party on
