FFP is very important to CAFC, need a fair playing field, more level will mean better football. She hears overseas owners talk about that they should be allowed to invest as much as you like but Roland and her don't agree.
Not right that a club can build up £80m of debt and then be sold for a £1 as unfair on the other owners (not sure if she was talking about CAFC or just in general).
Talking to Brighton Chair (Brighton seem to be a club they and he had said that they get their best crowds on a Friday. KM said "why do we always play on Saturday afternoons when have to compete with Prem, people who play football are playing etc". Will have to clear with league but may look at playing Friday nights, Sundays to get bigger crowds (no mention of away fans having to travel etc but it was just an short interview)
Gap between Prem and Champ too big and causes problems. Suggested a Prem 1 and 2 is way forward (Didn't RM and PV say this a long time ago?).
Good summary @Henry Irving . She also talked about having one of the smallest budgets in the League, adding that depending on where the Club are in January they might look to sign two to three players to fill the positions "everybody knows we need to fill". This would not guarantee promotion she said.
She said that if you look at the last three seasons or so Clubs winning promotion have three times our budget, typically.
Same story and similar soundbites with the exception of her point about when matches are played. "I don't understand why we play on Saturday afternoons" she said. I'd be surprised if we don't get a few Friday night experiments.
Good luck with Friday night attendances - useless for anyone who has to travel any distance...
I don't have far to travel, but evening games are a struggle to get to at times, so if Friday night games were to become the norm, I wouldn't be reviewing my ST.
I know Tranmere used to do this quite often, due to being on the doorstop of the two mersey giants, but in all honesty, I can see it having a negative impact on attendances, rather than a positive one..............
A few Friday games, might work as a novelty. Realistically though, there will be more people who struggle to make an evening game, because of work committments, than the extra that will be able to make it.
We did the Friday night games bit years ago, didn't work then and IMHO won't work now. Look at midweek games now generally lower crowds than Saturdays at the valley.
Really hope this is not something she is going to push, people travelling far or at work it just doesn't work. Far more important things need sorting at the club before we go off on this tangent.
One of the benefits of not being in the Prem is regular 3pm Saturday football. Really hope we don't switch - can't make Fridays anyway, due to location and domestic reasons. Without meaning to sound melodramatic that will be it for me after 52 years.

Oh dear and double oh dear. No and no. If it ain't broke don't fix it, and I'd say as many if not more players play Sunday league football than Saturday around the place. Friday night also kills alot of the fun checking other scores. Disagree entirely with what she's saying, Friday night games would drop the attendances.
Also, the away support will be massively down on a Friday and much reduced on a Sunday. I'm 90% confident Friday or Sunday games would result in reduced attendances.
I think she may have underestimated how many supporters we have living far away, even those in Kent might see it to awkward etc. I'm local and never work later than 6 on a friday but i'd still not like them to be on a friday. As others as have mentioned having a few a season might be a good idea which I'd like but not anymore.
You don't blame her for trying to find a way to increase attendance, but there must be someone at the club who can advise her that it has been tried and did not work
Don't mind the occasional Friday night game but not on a "Tranmere" level. Maybe the trust will start a survey/petition on this possible scenario in the coming days.

Great idea, It's about time we had a survey, I've got withdrawal symptoms.
FFP is indeed key. I didn't hear the interview but if the quotes are complete and accurate then there is no mention of Leicester and QPR buying their promotion slots with losses way, way higher than the £8m allowable. And I suspect Forest are doing the same?Clubs did not vote 75% in favour of continuous financial assessment so CAFC has to compete with the current rules. Burnley, Derby and Watford have been able to compete with budgets about £5m higher than ours so I would suggest that spending a tad more on the squad (within FFP limits) is the answer. Therefore I'm delighted to hear that the promise of securing two or three players is developed/continued. We all know that will help and we should be aware that increases our chances of reaching and competing in the play-offs. No guarantees. For it takes a lot, lot more money and experience to finish top two. The narrative continues and I am 100% confident that actions will follow these words. In fact, given the quiet professionalism over the summer it wouldn't surprise me if I heard negotiations with European players and clubs have already commenced with a view to players arriving in January. Pricing, performance and product are improving and I think CAFC should be patient before moving kick off times. In reality the fastest way to fill the Valley is secure promotion. Perhaps the club might offer incentives to those of us that have stayed with the club since 2007 rather than move kick off times? Not much revenue in a 2,000 increase as Richard Murray and @Airman Brown have pointed out to me earlier this year...but still it would be nice to have a few less empty seats.
I do rather like her approach of 'let's try it anyway' . Sometimes the 'we did it before and it didn't work' is quite irritating.Times change and ideas need re testing. It's not an idea that appeals to me but douze points for going back to basics.
Yes good to see KM trying to think outside the box. But if she wants more bums on seats the answer is simples... Win games at home. We played regularly on Friday nights back if the seventies but we were scoring for fun then (and getting stuffed away) and getting great headlines. A couple of Friday night bore draws like last weekend's affair and it would soon be the Valley of wide open spaces.

That would help fill the empty spaces, having a competitive team that is entertaining to watch is key. I like the policy towards promoting young players, and the signings of Gomez and Ahearne Grant are excellent. I would really like to see something concrete on getting a Category A status for the Academy.

Agree. Plus I'm a dinosaur traditionalist. Not really enjoying this weekend not having a game to go to/check the score every 2 mins. Not sure if I could have this saturday gap every week. Plus it means spending more time with the mrs:(

There is more to come later they said.

Palace a few years ago was a one off but it would reduce crowds (less young children, less away support, less chance of long distance fans attending)
I like taking my boy but he would be shattered by 9.30 after a week at school
