I don't understand why we choose to give so much possession and play to the other team. As others have said this lot will hurt us if we do that.
Just get more of the ball and let's dictate the flow of the game and create chances. Aside from 10 mins at the end of the first half at Rotherham we haven't done that for ages.

If we don't change how we play - 3 0 defeat.
If we do - 1 all draw.
I don't think that it is that we choose to give so much possession. There is another team involved trying to stop us playing our football by closing us our centre halves down and denying us space and time.
Yes, we need to counter than but I don't think it is a choice.

Yes, we need to counter than but I don't think it is a choice.
But it isn't like we are being done 55/45 on possession. Some of our games have been almost 70/30. Looking at Watford and Wolves in other games on the box and other teams didn't suffer as much as us.
Unless we are just not as good as we think perhaps?

Yes, maybe were not as good as some aspects of the game while being better at others. So the other team works on our weaknesses.
Here's my bonkers prediction based on fans logic. In the past five seasons we have remained unbeaten at the start of the season over the first nine games. We then lost the tenth.
We will therefore either draw or win on Saturday and lose at Norwich (as at Colchester and Stevenage beforehand).
For what it is worth I predict a 2-1 victory for the Addicks.
We may not choose to give so much possession to other teams, but we do it all the same. Unless there is a much greater effort to keep attacking, I fear this will be our first loss of the season. Of course, I hope I'm wrong!
I think when the decision was made to make the Valley pitch bigger it wasn't with the intention of conceding so much possession and chasing shadows for so much of the game. But that is what I think will happen tomorrow 2-0 to Middlesbrough.
Having 40% of possession is caused by careless distribution and cheap mistakes. The defence are playing the ball out and perhaps they need more movement and options in front of then so we can maintain control? Henderson is looking better every game and I look forward to seeing more of Bulot. So far Peeters has stuck to 4-4-2 but perhaps a 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 will play to our strengths.
We have had a bad run against Boro in recent times, and they look to have a strong squad, and against Liverpool they made 7 changes. Even if they flag a little late on, well we don't exactly display tons of zip late in matches either. I would be very happy to keep a clean sheet in this game simply to prove to ourselves it can be done. I think that our right hand side is problematic because of the two games coming up and the shuffling around in that area what with Solly, Gomez, Bulot, Wilson, Johan all looking to be slotted in some how in one or both the games. How Bob plans to handle that is a challenge for him, and any injuries and gaps that crop up elsewhere will risk diluting any plans. Boro will have around 2000 roaring them on so they won't lack a motivational aspect to their game, and in players like Bamford and Vossen we will have to be very much on out toes. Tough and difficult to predict this one, but aiming for a clean sheet might just be enough to provide a platform for better stuff.
In front of an unusually large, expectant Valley crowd, Boro race to a 3-0 lead in the first half hour. We huff and puff, pull a goal back, then with a few minutes to go, a great strike from debutant Simonsen pulls it back to 2-3. Can we complete the great comeback? Sadly no.
Oh hang on.... [strange Tardis-like sound in the background]

....and Malcolm Allison will be sitting on the away bench (and he'll be allowed to smoke his cigars...)
Gonna miss the first half hour of this one due to work so hope it's boring as anything for half hour with Charlton ending up on the right side of a 5-4 thriller

Their players must all be mercenaries otherwise they would not move to the worst place in Britain.
