its boring now airman.
This is another whim and the underlying message is that you the fans don't matter, we'll do what we like - not the individual players, the football management collectively.
I was involved in what happened today by Badger but I'm not comfortable disclosing what I learned as a result, other than to say it's not transfer related and it's not significant. If he wants to tell you he will.
2.The last two big mistakes were callum at brentford and nick 2nd goal Derby. negative reaction on social media, makes then cry off.
3.Big bob not keen on his players being put under microscope with Q and A. (why would u21's turn up?)
Well Badger that's what you get, speculation ?
when fans don't know the reason why.
The point that you can't sensibly send relatively unknown young players out to a public meeting on their own has been made numerous times, but time and again it comes back up.
We had huge rows internally on this; refusal to name players attending in time that events could be advertised in advance; players just deciding on the day not to bother; and last minute withdrawals - and the group organisers know of some of the problems over the years.
Of course there were some occasions when problems arose for legitimate reasons, including injuries, loans etc, but there was also an issue that nobody on the football side really gave any weight to the efforts of fans in organising and attending events, because that's not how the game is structured and the power is all with the manager (head coach).
In the end, Wendy and I refused point blank to be involved any more after fans were let down once too often at short notice - and that was under Chris Powell. The chief exec agreed with us. He couldn't shift the playing side either.
So no, cafcdave, we didn't keep quiet when employed, we kicked up a stink, but in the end there was nothing we could do to change what seems to be a deep-seated problem of attitude.
But it wouldn't be fair to pin it on Peeters alone.
or another reason ?
Instead we have eltham addicks, east kent addicks, Bromley addicks, city addicks, the trust, g21, left handed vegan knights that go neee addicks and the rest all wanting meetings.
Speaking for Bromley we have 6 meetings a year of which one is usually with current players and one with current team management (next week if you care)
The rest we source ourselves eg Eddie Youds at Christmas.
So one meeting a year with current players. If that is the same for the others then that is just 4 over a whole season.
Hardly a huge drain on the Club although they do provide players for other activities such as half-tern courses, sponsors, the Community Trust, Hospital visits at Xmas all of which are good and worthy.
The Club asks Bromley Addicks to provide dates in the summer and did the same for Eltham Addicks. They will have had this date for some time.
It is co-ordinated by Club staff at Sparrows Lane.
So having too many groups or independent groups is not an issue.
The main impact on attendances are, IMHO, not frequency but uncertainty. Covered End regularly attend such events but decided not to due to the late change.
If guests were announced (by the Club) earlier and then those people turned up I believe people would be more inclined to attend.
There has been problems which how this is arranged and enforced at the Club's end for many years and under many managers and owners so this isn't new.
The Trust does not do Q&A evenings with players. Never has done as not part of what it does. It does have a relationship with the club chairman (which is what the large majority of fans want) but events with Richard Murray are not arranged via CAFC.
