Alcorcon - a perspective from Madrid

  • Third consecutive nil nil in the exciting rollercoaster world of Alcorcón.
  • Back on track yesterday with a two nil win at home to Racing Santander. Both goals from David Rodríguez who now has eighteen for the season. Five points off that last playoff place so a late run is not impossible.

Last year Córdoba were in sixteenth place with a few games to go but went on an incredible run to claim the final playoff place, so it can happen...

Doubt it will for Alcorcón though. Would be a great year to go up as finally the TV rights debacle is being sorted out to prevent Real and Barcelona taking 90% of the share between them.
  • Away tonight to Pepe Mel's Real Betis, who will secure their return to La Liga if they win.

Victory for Alcorcón and the race for the final playoff place will still be on with two matches left.

Manager José Bordales has announced he will leave at the end of the season and today's paper says he will take over at Madrid rivals Getafe.

Will post an update after tonight's match for anyone interested. Currently enjoying fourth division playoff match between Madrid based Union Adarve and CD Llosetense from the Balearic Islands.
  • 1-0 to Betis at half time. Sixth place looks very unlikely now as Zaragoza won tonight and look like they can't be caught for the final playoff place.
  • 3-0 Betis full time. Another year of Segunda Liga for Alcorcón.
