Feel of a local derby where form can go out of the window. Thank God for that.

Depends if you have "the feel" that Charlton is in Kent.

It's local, but it's not a Derby in my book.

Well there are plenty of "derby" matches touted around in football where the clubs are further apart than Charlton and Gillingham
  • Well there are plenty of "derby" matches touted around in football where the clubs are further apart than Charlton and Gillingham

    True enough.
But in this instance, despite the distance between the two clubs there's no Derby about it. Gillingham fans will agree with that.

Last time we were in league one and we hadn't played gillingham In years and despite that our first encounter in a while came around and the game had no 'Derby feel' to it. Sure they sold the away end out as did we in the reverse fixture , but that's about it.
Nobody losses sleep the night before we play gills.

Compare any game against gills to the epic battles with West Ham, the atmosphere from the away end when we play millwall or palace from both sets of fans and then you'll see my point. It means so much more to so many more fans when we play against these teams.

    Gillingham, just another game.

So what's gonna happen today (Thursday 17th). Will there be one @Ollywozere ? Who will face the world's press? Will it be an indicator of things to come...? Exciting times...(huh)...

Slightly over exaggerating the far reaching appeal of a charlton press conference i think!

Can't be bothered to post them in the right order or delete all the guff due to handful of CARD hooligans and the protests that are killing the club so read from the bottom

I am glad he has identified this. I believe the link play between midfield and attack, especially through the middle of the park, has been the weakest aspect of our team for a fair few years.

But has Kat agreed with him on this issue & confirmed that funds will be made available ?

Or is this his way of letting her know that he expects some dosh to strengthen the squad ?

its just manager waffle, plus how many clubs need a new midfielder and a number 10 etc

believe it when you see it, actions not words are needed

He would be a very poor manager indeed if he couldn't identify the problems which are painfully obvious to thousands of Charlton fans with zero coaching qualifications.

What's possibly more important is that he has said it out loud, at a press conference, which is where previous managers have come unstuck. We shall see if his Belgian overlords contradict him with their usual "We have enough players, you can only play 11" guff or if they actually back him to correct the deficiencies in January. I'm not holding my breath.

The last tweet was the most telling for me re:the under 23s. That's where you're getting your number 10 and strengthening the midfield from in Jan Karl. That or looking at the free agent market that did so well for us in the 2nd half of last season......

  • I wonder if Marc Pugh would drop to our level. Not getting games in the Prem.
