Wow just wow. I really hope this is not a wind up - to have to live with that for so long must have been incredibly hard. I worked with a guy he did the same thing, came in one day a man the next day he was dressed as a woman and wanted to be called Mandy. He spent 2yrs like that, had to use the disable toilets instead of the mens and woman's. At the end once he had all the surgery he left the company so he could start afresh without anyone knowing in his new job.
Good luck Frank, I hope you finally find peace in your new life
Good luck to her, takes some balls to do what he has.
In all seriousness, there's a bloke who is a regular in my local coffee shop who recently started coming in as a woman. Was a bit weird at first, you could see everyone doing a double take the first time they saw him/her but then everyone just went back to reading their papers or whatever and no one takes any notice or gives her any grief at all. I think society, for the most part, has moved on and people are just happy for them and that they are finally able to be who they want to be.
Why has he done this? Not change his sex, I mean - but tell the newspaper? I guess because one of them threatened to print an expose or something. At least this way he gets to have at least some control over the narrative. A couple of people I've worked with over the years have done this - though never anyone I'd consider more than a passing acquaintance. Must be absolute murder to live with yourself if you feel like you're living a lie.

'Ang on a sec, is that for real? Is he on a wind up? Has he lost a bet or something?
