Delort will play next friday for Tours FC because of the injury of our striker Christian Kouakou. I saw him this morning, before the training session and told him that fans of Charlton are waiting for him. He appreciate that, but give me no clue about his future. I tried ! Sorry. Be patient transfer window close soon.
From Tours FC fan
Christian Kouakou , now you're making it up, are you sure its not Seymour Butts?
It's true as this is a screen grab I took from the Charlton FB group. I think with this evidence you can categorically put on the headline to the thread 'ed-confirmed for €3m'

Welcome Andy, it's great to have you on board
Wow that screen shot is telling ' I want to make a landing , and take it one step at a time' sounds like Neil Armstrong , he must be out of this world!

Am I missing something ? How is this "evidence" ?
It's not at all, some bloke could have just typed it out and posted it on facebook and tried to sound a bit french, having said that, looking at some of the posts on the charlton facebook the translation may have intended to seem quite articulate.
If Simon Church is the answer to anything then I'm already terrified about what the question could be.
The Judge: "Simon Spongefoot Church, You have been convicted by a jury of your peers of falsely impersonating a Championship standard striker, have you anything to say before sentence is passed?"

it's taken from an interview with Delort on Ajaccio's website, Tours opponents this coming Friday. Keep up ;-)

haha it's all moving to fast for me and my quick whit...although the translation still could have been altered, not sure if that screenshot alone counts as evidence!

But even if it's legit it says Charlton and Tours are "finalizing" a deal - isn't that what we've apparently been trying, and failing, to do for about three weeks now ?

Precisely, nothing is confirmed yet, and we don't really know quite how far along it is, although it's looking good!

@se9addick, what other evidence do you need? Our facebook group alone has our fans offering one another out for punch ups post Wigan, it is essentially as good as hearing it on the official site.
No, quite clearly with this statement, regardless of who it is written by, we have our man. The moderators can now edit the headline to 'confirmed', and I'm going to start a welcome thread for Andy.
Don't even know who Delort is! Never heard of him until he became a tranfer target.
I'd never heard of Tucadean, Gudmunsson, Vetokele and Buyens but I am bloody impressed I can tell you that!
The difference is that the club scouting and contacts network clearly had heard of them, and got them in, before introducing them to the rest of us. Delort has been introduced to us by a clumsy misuse of social media by on the one hand the owner of Tours, and on the other his agent (family members). This human trafficking by social media started a full four weeks before Charlton became one of the 16+ clubs alleged to be interested in him.
It may be that he ends up as a Charlton player, and it may also be that he is a success for us as a player.
However the background to the story, being so different to the others you list, is exactly why I'm cautious.
But I do trust the Club to make the right decision on it, and they can take as long as they like as far as I'm concerned.
How do you know he wasn't one of our targets at the start of the summer alongside Vetokele, JBG etc.?
Well I don't know, and have never pretended to. However the web trail of Andy Delort in the summer window stretches back way before we were first mentioned, and is clearly being actively put out there by both Tours and his agent. The Tours owner needs money. So if Charlton had been in there early on, he would have mentioned them. It seems to me, anyway.
I'm confident he would have been scouted by our network - there's nothing to suggest to the contrary
see my comment above. I don't believe he was on the hit list that Vetokele clearly was on, in May. I could be wrong.
However if I am right, in what competitive games would we have scouted him?
Again, I am not criticising the club. RD isnt going to have his money chucked around without careful consideration, especially after the Polish Pete fiasco. If we buy him, I'm sure it will have been carefully evaluated. And, I am quite sure, for nothing like the money being touted by the Tours owner, whose main business, a travel agency specialising in Corsica, is not exactly Gazprom in size or cash pile.
My point has always been that we as fans have been sucked in to a typical sale by social media exercise, and we don't want to end up disappointed as a result of our own gullibility.

Not quite as good news for my cat.
