  • Shot In the dark here for a quality player who shouldn't cost much, Freddie Sears from colchester has really started to shine for the U's and I think he'd fit well. Just a new thought
  • Maybe he is going for an offer from every championship club, he want to get in the Guinness Book of records....I can see the headline on the back page ' the whore from Tours signs for.....

Clearer picture. Looks like he hasn't always had a mark there.

  • Here's a thought - it goes to the wire but ultimately we lose out to Wigan/Wolves/whoever.
In fact we don't bring anybody else in and BP says something like, " yes we would have liked to strengthen, but only with the right players and sometimes this doesn't happen. I am happy with the squad we have and confident they can meet the challenge"
Will Charlton Life go into meltdown?

Unlikely. it is what it is.

We desperately look squad-wise like we are short of another striker though, particularly if Igor gets injured, and have had a long time to address that.

    Do you not agree ?

Yeh, but only in the usual CL hands on the side of the head running backwards and forwards across the room screaming sort of way!

yes but if the player you want isn't available do we just sign anyone? Plenty of Simon Church's out there but for a very good reason.

Or should we pay over the odd's just because we want another body in?

For what it's worth I am certain we will sign a striker before the window closes.
Pay over the odds I say. You get what you pay for.

We need another midfielder and striker for our squad. RD has had his hand in his Charlton pocket (he has a few) a lot this summer, let's hope he digs a little deeper in the next few days.

Agree but good strikers who are cost effective and fit into the Duchatelet model are hard to find. I don't see us doing what he had to do last year and take the barrel scrapings that were Church and Sordell. I also think that Church could be a little bit better in Bobs system than Powells. For a play off place we probably need another striker and a bit of luck but as we stand I don't see any relegation issues (Hopefully not famous last words).

Just think on Monday this whole saga will be over and we'll have to find something else to talk about...
  • Well according to the seven oaks chronicle Wolves and Wigan are set to beat us out for Delort. Honestly I don't really care, as long as we get someone halfway decent

  • Leicester "used" our player - Rosler

Wigan Athletic manager Uwe Rosler believes Leicester City "used" the club's midfielder James McArthur.
A fee was agreed for McArthur, 26, to join the Foxes, only for the newly promoted side to sign free-agent Esteban Cambiasso late on Thursday.
"We didn't accept the pay structure and then Leicester left James in limbo," says Rosler. "I feel sorry for James. He got used in a way and we and he have to live with that. It's unusual. I've never experienced that where a club agree a fee and then make no contact over pay structure.
"Now we have to make sure we get James right again. I feel for the lad because he had already said goodbye to everybody at the club."

Thanks Henry, is this a gamechanger, does it put us back in the lead (its a bit like wacky races, where's Muttley when you need him).

I'd much rather have McArthur than Cambiasso. That's strange from Leicester and also means hopefully they wont be able to finance Delort as planned!

    Great news for Wolves.............

Thanks Henry, is this a gamechanger,

Maybe, which is why I posted it.

Just shows that there can be lots of twists and turns in these deals.

Could be Wigan now don't need Delort to replace James MrArthur so us or Wolves can sign Super Andy.

Who knows, other than Colin obviously?

more to the point, they haven't got the money to spend on Delort. As it appears that the Mcarthur deal fell through because they could not agree on how the money was to get paid makes me think that Wigan were after a bigger down payment so that they could go back to Tours with what they wanted.

    FWIW yes I do agree.
I'm kind of hoping we have a quality back-up option in mind if Delort falls through - I don't want us scraping the barrell again.
I'd like us to have a squad that can cope with the loss of one or more of Igor, Johan or Yoni to injury or suspension. IMO we don't at the moment.
