Cars - Gary Numan - Just heard it on the radio. I want to hate it, because he's such a twat, but I just can't help liking it.
  • Anything performed by the great James Last. Bizarrely, he used to turn his back on the 'orchestra' and conduct the audience.

Hey, I went to school with Julian Marshall, just a couple of years before 'Dancing in the City'. He was a small, squat chap, redolent of a Shetland pony.

I think this is the winner!

I think I could name quite a few as I grew up in the 80s.

One that stands out for me is 'The harder I try' - Brother Beyond...

BTW this guilty pleasures theme is popular at the moment. A mate of mine has sold out three guilty pleasure discos recently.
  • I've got the key - urban cookie collective

I have no idea why that song just came into my head...? :-/
  • for me there is one that shines out in the guilty pleasure category:

afternoon delight by starland vocal band

you can put me in solitary!
  • Northern lights is another, though I can't remember the group.
All around my hat - Steeleye Span
    Le Freak -chic
    Chanson d'amour - Manhatten Transfer

    Can I sneek another in

    I think we're alone now - Tiffany

Lena Lovich did the definitive version; Tiffany's is truly awful.

    My five:

Tell Laura I Love Her - don't know who did the original but I like that and Sha Na Na's cover, too.

    Jolene - Dolly

    Dancing Queen - Abba

    D.I.V.O.R.C.E. -Tammy Wynette (spelling?)

Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepson
original was Ray Peterson. a doleful recant of lusted melancholy if ever there was one. too classy to be in guilty list, perhaps if it was tell ray i wanna bum him it might have slipped into that category.
  • Slipped in....fnar fnar
  • Northern lights is another, though I can't remember the group.
All around my hat - Steeleye Span
    Le Freak -chic
    Chanson d'amour - Manhatten Transfer

    Northern Lights - Renaissance
  • Cheers mate.
