I still think Pritchard could go a job in centre midfield in some games. Thought he would still be a decent squad player.
Thanks to Pritchard, Hollands, Cort and Evina for their efforts the last few seasons. A few of them were a big part of the team that got promoted from League One - very much appreciated from me.
Good luck to all 10 and hope they all find a club.
Morrison, Dervite, Hamer, Poyet all offered new contracts, but all 4 could end up leaving anyway, Dervite to Bolton, Hamer to Leicester, Morrison and Poyet because of the whole management issue.
Hope all four sign on, a team of:
Hamer Solly Dervite Morrison Wiggins Wilson Cousins Poyet Jackson Harriott Church
Isn't too bad a starting place to build upon, but build upon it we must
Replace the one "up top" with a rejuvenated Darren Bent and I would say that you are right :-)
"build upon" is a polite way of me saying "sign 4 strikers so Church is sitting in the stands" but I agree, one marquee striker (not Bent, he is past it imo) and we go from relegation fodder to mid table anonymity.
Think we need more than 1 striker to make that a genuinely competitive side. We had all of those plus Kermorgant halfway through the season and were still struggling. Whilst Church isn't the best striker we've ever had (although his effort can't be faulted), the continuing story throughout last season (from where I was standing at least) was that we couldn't create enough clear cut chances, despite sustained periods of pressure and possession around the opposition's penalty area. Frequently left games feeling like we'd played well and dominated, but on further analysis realised that the opposition keeper had barely had a save to make. 2 decent forwards and more creativity centrally and out wide required. Good back four though.
Good luck to them all. No surprises there. I guess that confirms Osborne and Muldoon have been offered new deals along with Hamer, Dervite, Morrison and Poyet. Don't think there's anyone else?
Unfortunately I first saw the news pop up on Facebook and the first reply was a dig at Pritchard.
Unbelievable. There's some real chumps within our support.
As an aside, who has decided to release these players? The Chairman?
If so, how many times has he seen Azeez play for example?
The club have decided to release the players and it would have been based on advice and reports from the coaches. The fact we haven't got a manager/head coach in place doesn't mean the machine stops working.

@Scoham is alright he's one of our better lifers :-)
I would be grateful to get people's thoughts on any of the youngsters released. Were any of them contentious and ones you could see making a name for themselves? As with the other senior members, the only one I would have kept is Cort. We needed to clear the decks (provided we have replacements). I know people have been frustrated by lack of info coming from the powers that be, however, I think we are moving in the right direction. I definitely would've kept Riga, but will not dismiss the appointment of Peeters as a poor decision. Those that are leaving are the right ones, apart from Cort. In addition, I feel the club are doing what they can to keep hold of Morro, Hamer & Poyet. It may be that they get offered better deals elsewhere, and financially RD feels we cannot afford them. That's just the way it is. On balance, I am happy with the end to the season and the approach to moving forward so far.
Particularly gutted things haven't worked out with Bradley Pritchard. Like Wagstaff, the guy is genuinely one of the nicest lads you'll ever meet in the game. If you are reading this Bradley, really hope things work out for you pal and you get yourself a good club.
It was a surprise how quickly Pritchard fell from grace, from being an important member of the squad who got us 9th one season, to being completely out of favour in 2014

Bradley Jordan and Azeez regressed in the last 12 months, which was disappointing as on first viewings AA looked promising. Jordan, just too lightweight and has lost out to Jack Munns. Feely never recovered from a disastrous loan at Carlisle and as others have said we have Lennon, Osborne and Gomez coming through at centre half. I have also seen the U18 captain look very competent playing that position as well, although like Gomez I think his final position will be centre midfield.
As others have said, thanks for getting us back to the championship and helping us stay there. Not since 2011 have so many players left the club and I don't see any surprises in that list. If we can sign Gomez and Poyet, and perhaps bring back Sordell then we have the makings of a good young team.

One game doesn't make you a bad player but the home game v Spanners did him no favours at all and IMO he never was the same afterwards.
Danny Hollands was one of my favourite players in that league 1 season, delighted if he has got a contract with Pompey. Based on his success in league 2 and time at Gills, I reckon he could play league 1 standard still. The thing most of these released players have on their side is a proven record in league 1.
People can dig Pritch out as much as they like, he is one of the most honest players you'll ever get and his route in to football is stuff of dreams really. Despite these players hardly featuring last season, I enjoyed them being part of the squad and its a shame to see them go. Truly signals the end of the last 3 years/Powell era. With the number of new first XI and squad players required, hopefully on to an exciting new chapter!

Poor old Pritch. Couldn't believe how much he showed against Reading in the League Cup after we'd generally been used to dross from the non-leagues and he kicked on from there. He had two very good seasons for us but this one just seemed to be too much for him. Hope he does well, think he'd be great for Barnsley
Who,s job was it to release these player,sI know they are out of contract, but R.D or K.M would not have know much about them, presumably it would have been Richard Murray.
Sad to see Pritchard go, one of my favourite players from the last few years, im sure he will get a deal with a decent league 1 club, quality player for us that season and on occasion in Championship.

The same bloke who picks the team and who decides which players we sign....Roland. (:
So RD who brought YTU into the club as well as Polish Pete and Nego decided not to play them right, we need to face facts we assumed Powell lost his job for not playing them players but then nor did Riga, so RD does not pick the team IMO

Its not the time for this discussion, but you're missing the fact that RD and Riga couldn't agree about the future of the club (possibly player retention and recruitment) and, despite Riga being very successful during his reign, they've now parted ways.
That to me suggests one possible situation was RD wasn't best pleased with Riga despite his success and proposes a future recruitment policy similar to what we saw in January.

Now for the massive influx of players ....
Thanks for the memories!

I always assumed Azezz was thought of as the better finisher than Sho-Silva?
Evina and Pritchard looked pretty solid and useful last season, it's just a shame that they didn't continue that this year. A real shame.
Good luck to all of them, I'm sure they won't be out of work for too long.
