    @byl.

A lot of us are very interested in all you have to say, just ignore those that aren't (although I think @TheRedRobin was just expressing his frustration with the lack of clarity within the club right now, and not with your reply)

In order to really nail the difference between the British and Continental system, here are two scenarios which could occur . Please tell us how you would expect them to be resolved in a Belgian club.

    1. The Head Coach(Manager) finds that a player in the squad, who was at the club before the HC arrived, is becoming increasingly uncooperative, and the HC thinks he is stirring up trouble with the other players. In Britain I think the HC would be able to say "He's got to go". And go he does. Would that be the case in Belgium, if there was a Sporting Director?

    2. The Head Coach(Manager), needs a new striker urgently. He knows from the Board roughly what the budget is. The Chief Scout, working to his brief, brings him two options; an established 28 year old English player, and a 21 year old from Bosnia, who players for a lesser Swedish first Division team, but has banged in loads of goals for the national U21 team and is being compared to Dzeko. The Board might favour the young Bosnian, because they think he has development potential. but the Head Coach says, "too risky, and my mate Malky Mackay has worked with the English guy and says he's a good team player". So the Head Coach prevails. But again, in Belgium, would he prevail, if the Sporting Director had favoured the Bosnian kid?

for 1. if he doesn't listen to the head coach the head coach would proabably tell the player to train with the b-squad until he approves his behaviour or the coach would just not select him in the team or even not bench him. Can't have a player stirring trouble. usually sportive director agrees - after all it is the sportive director/sportive management who appoints the head coach.

    2. same thing usually head coch and sportive director confer and discus the pros and cons and reach a decision that is backed by both to the outside world. It will depend on the club and the persons involved on who will have the last word if the head coach and sportive director disagree. But those occasions are rare. usually the head coach and sportive director need to work well together. if they don't it can have disastrous consequences for the club.

another thing - when the team doesn't do well and stays far below expectations, it is usually the head coach that is sacked - the sportive management usually only is replaced if their transfers prove to be totally not ok for a few years ina row and if there is a big crisis between sportive director and the owner/club management
  • Looks like Byl is the poster that the red robin was referring too about knowing better

Once again Byl is the NLA of Belgium and a speaker of common sense

But yet again it highlights that no one knows anything and that is driving you all mad
  • I suspect

Have Roland and byl been seen in the same room ?
Seems far too keen /helpful to explain things
Byl is either one of the nicest friendliest people in the world or one of Roland's stooges

I'm a cynic so please don't be offended Roland byl , I for one appreciate your explanations even if I don't agree with all of them and I'm sure I speak for others too

On the other hand and i know its being picky but why the "at 8pm" They obviously have it so why not post it now.

Any reason why read? Shocking if not a video interview

The quality of player - generated content is much worse IMO. Its prettier and more flashy but you wouldnt support Charlton if you were a style over substance merchant.

  • Are you joking? Player looks and works like it's 1998...
  • No it doesnt...its remarkably improved in terms of technical functionality.

    The Website runs better.

The You Tube channel could be great

But I actually meant football player- generated content. I wanna hear what players and managers have to say, primarily football but life stories also. We have always been good at producing such media. (IMO match reports have slipped in quality - but I am not blaming a guy who seems to be learning his trade for this - inexperience tends to result in over-reliance on pastiche and cliche....compare everyone to Kevin Nolan which is a hard yardstick)

If I was talking about CAFC player, I would have said "Player generated content" ;)

Not fair to criticise Peter who is brilliant IMO and gets better with every game and KillersBeard is awesome. And if your talking purely of software functionality, it is much much better now. Ugly Tone and Sneaky Skater probably stopped paying the host because it cost 500 quid to renew as we went into 13/14 season.
  • I meant the functionality. Doesn't work on mobile, not responsive, broken buttons all over the place, video freezes all the time etc etc
  • Really? Ok that is unfortunate for you. Audio works fine on my fone, although i use a tablet for live games
  • vffvff

    .

  • Very nearly a month since anything was put on CAFC player. Even a film of the tractors on the pitch isn't there. Very dull.
  • BREAKING NEWS: Bob was spotted on the EuroTunnel this morning, apparently on his way to SE7!

    He has Arrived!
  • Perhaps when he does arrive we will start to see players come in because he is really the only one who will persuade them with the vision he has for the club(apart from wages!).
  • Thanks for that Richard J. Very interesting.
