Waasland - Beveren release a statement saying neither bob peeters, or his agent have handed in a resignation

Don't they have to give permission to CAFC to open talks with him, in that case?

i personally think waasland-beveren is just trying to make the most out of the situation.

RD is a weird guy but if it comes to contracts and stuff he is no fool. yes Peeters has a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season with WB. According to some there is a clause in the contract that stipulates "Peeters can be released for a fee of 3 months wage" . Whether this is true or not i don't know, but RD will have had his legal advisors check it , double check and quadruple check it.

Waaasland Beveren are now in a situation they know their manager wants to go elsewhere, and they know RD wants him. It would not be smart of them to try and keep a manager who doesn't want to be there anymore. So if i would have to make the decisions at WB i would try and find myself a new manager as soon as possible, and try to get as much money as possible from RD for the release of Peeters.

    just my two cents.

Riga has stated he wanted the job but the fact he did not pick the network players seems to of counted against him. Looks like RD wants a Yes Man and will appoint one no matter how unpopular it is.

These sorts of comments don't help. You're guessing. Do you really think RD replaced Powell for saying no, only to bring in someone else who says no.
Riga's remit was to keep us in the championship, at the VIP season ticket holders meeting on 6th March the club officials under RD admitted the network players that came into the club were not good enough.

So in the short term not picking them was not an issue. RD's long term vision is to have a manager who is happy to agree working his way and it looks like SCP & Riga could not agree on these football issues. He will find someone who does, similar to Forest when Warnock turned down job because of interference from owner.

  • @BeNeFoot: Waasland-Beveren release a statement saying neither Bob Peeters nor his agent have handed in his resignation as head coach. #cafc - reliable source

So if he is on his way to the valley today surely he's resigned.. Can't see him being new head coach

What do you mean by 'his way'? I ask because RD has employed Riga before. Wouldn't the two of them already know whether he can work "the RD way"?
  • I think the title of this thread has caused a lot of misunderstanding....whoever posted forgot to put 'Driver' after the words 'head coach'.
  • Does anyone else think it's all rather insulting to brand every person RD employs as a sycophantic, yes man with no mind of his own and no pride in their own ability or profession ?

It would seem from the information we have gleaned from byl and others that Bob Peeters is highly regarded in his own country. Please explain to me why any coach would take a job where he does not pick the team pretty much ensuring abject failure and the sack which would irrevocably tarnish his reputation and future career prospects ?
Duchatelet is a hugely successful business man and I am certain that he only employs people in senior roles that are good at their job and have the balls to stand their ground.

It's obvious that RD is not your usual football club owner but this continual character assignation of every prospective RD appointment ( including Riga) does this site and Charlton supporters no credit.

I await the abuse for being a Duchatalista which I am not.

Shane only us minority have this sensible view
  • Put two and two together? Assistant apparently was here recently? Patrick von hours or whatever his name is, and now Bobby is on his way? Sounds like a deal done to me.

I was watching Hot Fuzz last night on ITV. I reckon I've cracked Bob Peeters part-time acting hobby:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir1sVy9JLyo

RD: Did you deal with those pesky Duchalistas?
    BP: Yarrrrrrp
    RD: And the contract negotiations?
    BP: Yarrrrrrrrrrrp
  • Shg

You are spot on mate it's getting quite sickening to read that about everyone who dares work for RD

RD got Riga in on short term deal to try and keep us up. Remember Riga has been sacked by RD before so I would say if Riga wanted the job which he did but did not get it something in the relationship was wrong.
Hughsey asked him at Player of year awards if he wanted job permanent he said yes.
Ps in Spain with poor internet bit like The Valley on match day.

  • Agree SHG had been thinking the same. He's also got his other football clubs and businesses to oversee (and was rumoured to be looking buying more clubs). I don't believe he wants to pick the team or micromanage the business. Seeing Thuram and Nego play couldn't have been more important to him than staying up.

I agree with SHG, My LOL post was about the Bobby Hot Fuss thing.

Does Roland really have the time to sit there and decide which players play, He probably doesn't give a poop, He may have a plan... and he may certainly want things done a certain way. But i don't think he would priorities player pickings in the position we was in. Young manager, Dealing with young players from our academy, Producing players good enough for the SL team and to make money from his probably his goal, He brought us because his likely heard of the academy we have, we are in London which for any young player from anywhere is a exciting prospect. We are a feeder club to SL, We bring through youth, Sell RD makes bucks, Simple.

    Who's Roman? I bet he can't hold a candle to Roland :-)

I know this is going to sound aggro, but what was the point of that reply? You're speculating just as much as you did the first time. How do you know what RD's long term vision is? Answer - you don't. None of us do. Not even Riga, apparently.

You should not lament poor Bradley Pritchard, who went crashing in, late, and got a straight red in the first game of last season. Our 'midfield' at Bournenouth were Mark Gower and Andy Hughes. They were casually turned over by our inferiors, and we lost 2-1.

Well done, Pritchard. Look again at Kermorgant's goal in that game at Bournemouth: the way he bent his body to hammer a cross on the volley. Remember his geometry-defying lob from the goal-line in our promotion party against Hartlepool? And his many deliciously curving arcs from free-kicks over the wall that left the keeper speechless?

We had a free-kick at The Valley the other the week in a typical Kermorgant position: ten yards outside the box. The whole stadium fell silent. After much deliberation, Johnnie Jackson stepped up - and hit it straight in to the wall.

Joe Pigott is six inches taller than Yann Kermorgant - and he never wins a header.

  • Bournemouth were not and are not inferiors to us.
