No tears shed here for his demise, remember him breaking Johnny Robinsons ankle with a needless challenge in a cup tie years ago.

Did he? When did this occur?
The first game against Blackburn 1994 (we won the replay). The ball broke on the edge of the area and Shrewood took out Robbo, it had the look of a "put him out of the game" challenge to me.

  • Pochettino is the favourite.

I forgot him, he would be a good get for them.

He would be, But he's doing some great things at Southampton. He'll lose his best players this summer though so can understand why he'd want to move on. Spurs need to give a manager time whoever they appoint.
  • I'm pretty certain it will be either Frank de Boer or Mauricio Pochettino.

FdB purely because he moulded the Ajax team around Erikssen and the lad is going to be an absolute star.

Excuse my ignorance so who is FdB going to model his team around at Spuds then?

Er...Spurs bought Eriksen from Ajax last summer??? ;)

this doesn't mean a thing given the modern-day accumulation of playing talent at the extreme top end of league football

his teams have been flighty, have been thumped by almost anyone decent, and haven't convinced me in any way that he's anything other than a chancer and a prick
Are you talking about Sherwood or Riga?
    Bit muggy ain't it !
  • I dont think Sherwood would do a good job at charlton.

Its a completely different ball game of management probably not suited to him, and as a young manager.

Nothing against him not judging his managent and he certainly picked spurs up a little from being absolute shite under AVB getting humiltaed by their league rivals.

Erm...and losing three times to West Ham in a single season wasnt humiliating?!?!?

  • AVB (or more likely Levy) bought some cack. Paulinho has been consistently good, Erriksen has been sensational on occassions but awful at times too. Capue, Chirches and Soldado are not suited to the PL in my opinion.
  • Why don't they let Levy show off his knowledge of the game ?
  • One potentially interesting dilemma regarding Frank de Boer possibly going to Spurs would be to do with his coaching staff....his number 2 is a certain Dennis Bergkamp.

Yeah, the fact that there's a bronze statue of FdBs assistant outside the Cameldome a few miles down the road is a bit of a sticking point ;)

Have you heard of the charlton tale tilted "Millwall at home" :)

Don't really know much about him.

Why do some despise him and why do others think he'd do a job for us?

You know how it is Henners some people like you others don't, I think you're ok though :-)
Does the 'clueless, spiteful and genuinely senseless prat' quote still apply here @RedChaser‌ ?
  • No comment until I have taken legal representation @legaladdick‌ :-)
  • according to Spurs supporting colleagues Sherwood would be no good for us as he didn't work out at WHL having failed despite multi million pound backing by Lewis /Levy to win the Boat Race ,the Arc de Triumph,The St Ledger ,the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles title ,the Calcutta cup or the WBO welter weight title.Shocking apparently for a club of their standing .But not as shocking as getting them relegated out of the Europa Cup League .

I resent the use of "clueless"
  • I would rather watch snooker than the europa league. United got away with that load of rubbish.

  • I've always thought Sherwood is rather an odd looking cove. Doesn't look trustworthy and I'd rather we had a suit wearing manager.
  • He was on a bit of a hiding to nothing wasn't he? It must have been difficult having his position questioned and replacement rumours thrown in his face constantly.
Having said that, why on earth would anybody want him at Charlton?
Needs to earn his spurs (lol) lower down the food chain first imo
  • Moyes to Spurs? They wanted him last season or the year before I think

Definitely think Sherwood can go on to become a good manager. If Riga doesn't get the job would he fancy a head coach role?

I reckon Moyes will be at Newcastle by Christmas. Pardew's ridiculous 10-year contract has clauses so that they don't have to pay him the full remainder if they off him and the fans have had enough of his nonsense by all accounts.
He's just lucky that they hate Ashley more at the moment.

Yes, there's a touch of the Ron Noades about him...

    Until he got the axe...

Didn't they have a fall out at Ajax though?

  • Didn't they have a fall out at Ajax though?

Not that I'm aware of. Eriksen got one hell of a welcome when he went back earlier in the season to say goodbye to the fans properly.

  • Narwich mgr
  • I'd rather keep Riga but even though he wasn't good enough for Spurs I wouldn't be totally against giving him a go. The win percentage thing doesn't mean anything as I'm sure I saw he has a higher than average loss percentage for Spurs as well and he hasn't really had that many games. Seems to have done a decent job with youth though and giving Kane a go so I think we'd be a decent place for him to iron out issues which means he isn't Spurs level yet.
