This was the news that brightened me up this morning, they are going to make a film of Dad's Army. As one who lived through the second World War, I am ordering my copy early. Those critics had better look out, they don't like it up em !
I shall do what I always do with remakes of shows and films I have affection for. Watch it with an open mind and appreciate it for what it is with no prejudice. I see no reason not to look forward to it, the two main cast members announced are both talented artists I respect and who, I would imagine, are also familiar with the high esteem in which the original is held and would not be involved if the film did not maintain the integrity of the formula we all know and love.
Some excellent casting in that line up, But, I dunno they had better make a more than decent attempt at this, otherwise they could get slaughtered from all sides.

I agree, very strong cast .. I just hope that they all take it 'seriously' and don't 'ham it up' too much .. if you know what I mean
I know PC lefties like you don't like the idea of making a profit but if people like the film it will make money and if they don't it won't. That's capitalism for you but you socialists don't like that and would rather we had to watch czechoslovak cartoons about singing ringing trees.
According to the local news this will be filmed on location in Yorkshire, about which some are already creaming themselves! The original was filmed in Norfolk.
Can't see why it needs to be done. Bit like PL games being played abroad. Mystifying.

Oh Henners you're such a card . I've never been called PC before even as a wind up! I think I love You.

Decent cast, but will all hinge on having a script that's good enough and also original. The doubter in me can't shake off visions of Russell Brand in St Trinians.
Can't wait for the Love thy neighbour re-make....................
Comments
I'm bound to end up watching this one, but I've not got good vibes about it. Some things are best left alone.
....anyone remember Carry On Columbus?

Spend your time coming up with an original idea and leave the classics alone FFS or is there no creative talent left in this country?
Oh yes....the filthy lucre....
Look at the BBC pics.

Certainly not meant to be high art.

And:
"Do you think I might be excused?"
