  • I'm confused....why do we have to submit a planning application to change the pitch?

Probably because of any effect the works themselves may have on the people that live close by during the works , noise and such.
  • and the need to build stuff like the pump room for the undersoil heating
  • I hate RD
  • Undersoil heating is clearly mentioned.
  • Brilliant news. 3G and Undersoil.
  • they're buying it all from B & Q

  • Let's hope the application is quickly accepted, we don't want some jobsworth delaying the approval until August!
Under soil heating, in retrospect, it was surprising we never installed such a system during the PL years.
  • That is excellent news, well done the Board, didn't have much choice but sounds like they are going the whole hog.
  • So do I understand from this that there is an open public tender for the work, and if so, why would that be run through a Council website?

Agree. Very good news and well done Roland for funding it.

Seems to start w/c 19 May and finish W/C 7 July. Not sure if that includes the time it takes for the pitch to "bed in".

I'll have a bet on our first league game being away from home.

Seems the contractor has been appointed

No i dont think so PA. I think private tender process, TGMS preferred option and now chosen for cafc, firm plans now at planning permission stage
  • PA It is the specification document that was used in the tender process.
  • I notice it says the pitch was inspected in November to assess what needs to be done...
  • Am I right in thinking that the planning application for the upgrade of Sparrows Lane was also assessed in November.....?

  • The bit where the East Stand lineman stands definitely needs to be 3G as that section is always completely worn away!
  • Looks the mutts nuts.
  • Two birds - one stone.
Presumably the mass removal of 1.5 metres of waste from the pitch can just be used to fill in the West Stand Car Park potholes.......

But seriously that looks like it should be an immaculate playing surface.
  • Yeah but what has RD ever done for us

It could be the best playing surface in League One next season.

No, home to Brentford or Wolves.
  • I can't seem to access the link. Is anyone else having a similar problem?
  • Isn't working on my PC at work, but workes fine on my iPhone.

As long as it's not home to Chesterfield or Scunthorpe...
  • Under heating system. What next? Premiership football.
  • Tbh didn't think you would need planning permission for undersoil heating.
