OPERATION EWOOD

edited April 2007 in General Charlton
Well done again to RM and the Board (with an obvious exception) for once again providing travel for the Blackburn game.

That's some commitment to provide nine planes and 70 coaches. It would be great if we really could take 7,500 and fill the Darwin end.

  • even if we could take half that it would be fantastic, we'd almost have as many fans there as blackburn
  • our board are unbelievable, great gesture but it's sad we have to do this 'rent a fan stuff' cos our support isn't strong enough to bring the 2-3k most clubs would bring in this situation......
thinking back when we've had great away contingents thru club initiatives have we ever won? port vale, forest, boro, man city no wins there can anyone think of one
  • We won at Port Vale 1-0 Mendonca pen?
  • We won at Port Vale, Morts.

The point is the board are backing the club.
And a great gesture backing the supporters who are backing the club.

Stay positive. We CAN do this!

    Danny Mills.....debut goal?
  • He's getting worried - hasn't he offered pints all round if we stay up?
  • Great gesture and we must try and muster as many as we can to go.

Mills got bought down, Super Clive tucked it away as I remember. Mills debut goal was at Crewe I think?
  • Have to sort out how we get Killer up to Ewood
  • was it true the stewards confiscated the old white flag with the club crest on at manchester city?

  • how many can we bring to ewood,i mean how many would be avaliable for us.
  • Nope, didn't even make it out of SE7, I'm going to Blackburn, I'll make sure both flags are up there
  • cheers stone and oggy , i was thinking of the midweek port vale draw in 99/00...
and if we do stay up first round on me on may 22nd, but i'm not raiding my piggy bank just yet;-)
  • Am I missing someting? has murray said something about laying on 9 planes and 70 coaches?? do we have 7,500 allocation?? says nothing on the OS

    Nice one, Morts.
And if I score on the 22nd, I'll buy you a drink too.

And Stone - you're right about Danny Mills scoring his debut goal at Crewe. Sorry, mate.

the phrase used was "advanced negotiation"

though if blackburn deny us the equivalent of an FA cup allocation it would only be out of spite - they'll never be anywhere close to capacity
  • Talk was of us getting 7500 although it did go on to say that there would be no trains due to engineering works that day. I expect that will put quite a few off as i don't think many will want to sit on a coach for 5 or so hours. Would the planes be free or subsidised?
I personally will be surprised if we shift 5000. Great gesture by the board though.
  • villa got given the whole of the bottom tier, at least, at blackburn, so i'm sure if we shift enough rovers will give us the top tier as well
  • Have I missed something here? Was this in the programme last night?
  • yes im trying to find something on the web site but cant see anythign.

  • HASN'T BEEN on the web site yet. Programme said they are still in negotiations with Rovers over tickets. I magine they are saying that if we can bring upwards of 5k can Rovers reduce their prices a bit to encourage attendance. Laying on coaches (70) and planes (19?) which have already been booked with Monarch. How much was it to Boro by plane. £50 ??
  • Where are they going to fly to anyway ? Blackpool ?
  • suppose so.

    Manchester?
  • [cite]Posted By: Shag[/cite]Where are they going to fly to anyway ? Blackpool ?
    and where from?
    City?

    City?

Citys too small for Monarch planes , would be gatwick
  • would we reallly fill 9 planes?
  • DON'T CALL IT OPERATION EWOOD!
  • [cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]would we reallly fill 9 planes?

Possibly as regular train go-ers won't want to sit on a poxy coach all day.
