Yeah, we all have jobs, pay taxes, behave well and support our team.
You all live in council houses, claim benefits, sit around all day playing Xbox smoking weed and drinking high strength lager, then on a Saturday go and spout loads of racist abuse at your own players.

Yeah, we're the strange ones!!
Little bit disappointed that you didn't manage to get a reference to burberry in.
I have it - it was going round the crowd at Fulham and totally randomly got given to me in its bag by one of the boat lot. Boat organiser says someone he knows fancies taking it to away games so I need to get it to him when he is back from holiday.
This isn't a bite but it was only last week that you came on here telling us about your new kit and how it's raising money for an armed forces related charity, and we all agreed it was a great gesture, yet you call us strange for talking about a flag some of us on here have contributed towards that remembers a British soldier murdered on the doorstep of both our football clubs and community's???
I know I'm gonna get torn to shreds for this, but here goes..........
I really can't see why we are so obsessed with it. Yes, I realise it happened in Woolwich and am aware of the circumstances regarding why it happened and as an ex soldier myself, am appalled this sort of shit happened on our soil.
I thought the paving stone at the Valley was a nice touch, but I personally find the flag a bit cringeworthy, almost to the point of agreeing with MillwallFan.
He wasn't a local lad, as far as we know he'd never been to the Valley or had any interest in our club and was a Man Utd supporter. It almost reminds me of when a local teenager tragically dies and it's swept along in a facebook frenzy by all the teens who lived within 20 miles of them, claiming to be a victim, when they didn't even know the person.
I'm sure there's probably at least one soldier who lost his life in Iraq/Afganistan that actually supported our club. I'd much rather we had a flag for them.
I really don't want to come across as being insensitive about what happened and my utmost sympathy goes to his family & friends, but I find the flag waving a bit too much like jumping on a bandwagon, which some might say, disrespectful.
I now await some flags of my own for this post................

You won't get any flags, because we're not angry about what you wrote. We are just disappointed.

Don't see why you think you'd get flagged for that. It's a decent honest opinion.
My opinion is that the more respect we can show for the young man the better. Whether it be in the form of a flag, a paving stone, a message on twitter, or whatever.
We are the closest football club to where this horrendous incident occurred, so for us to lead the show of respect (for the football world at least) in my opinion is a good thing.
I don't expect everyone to agree with that though, that’s just my thoughts on the matter.
Whoa whoa whoa, I don't have a problem with the flag at all. I think it's a blinding gesture. This atrocity happened on your doorsteps and you've got a flag to pay your respects to Drummer Lee Rigby, no problem with that at all. I just thought it was funny, and a bit strange, all the "where is it, I've left it in the usual place etc" cloak and dagger stuff. That's what I was on about. But it was meant in good nature. Chill

To be honest, I kind of knew that. I just wanted to have a dig! ;o)
ok some of you have very selective and short memories--------------after the murder there was a huge thread on here (some even refused to condemn the murder!) it was said by many the CLUB would do something ,100% the CLUB would do something --match with Man Utd (he followed Man U) etc etc------we waited and NOTHING happened. Our fans had a collection and got the plaque some wanted a plaque some just wanted just to do something. The flag was a spin off of this effort-----end of. As for the "clock and dagger" comment it "belongs" to no ONE individual and leaving it for collection and picking it back up (with fire certificates etc) has to be somewhere where people can be trusted------thats it.

No ones disputing that GH, most people know the origins and reasons for the flag but if you read this thread back with an outsiders perspective, like millwallfan, then you will see the lad has a point it comes across all secret society like. I don't think anyone's having a dig.
Stig whilst i agree with your point about blowing it out of proportion i have just checked my in box re that date and i can say that at least two were named that not only didnt condem it but actually said its was "understandable given the the UKs drone flights had killed women and children".
The plaque and the flag were our fans ideas---paid for by them. Neither, in case some of you leftwing Twonks think they were my idea i had nothing to do with the organizing the collection or the designs of either.
There have been two walks from Charlton to the murder spot. Both huge turn outs. One just after Lee was murdered did have flags many held by all ethnicities of the local people, the second had no flags (as requested by his parents). Both walks were silent. The CAFC flag wasnt made in time for the first and couldnt have been shown at the second.

Fair enough. My mind reading skills arent what they used to be.

In the words of the great Danny Shittu......."its what we do"

EDIT: That said the poster I am thinking of had trolling tendencies so probably would not have condemned on principle once asked.
