Don't think a win will make us safe. Will be a significant three points but Spanners on a run of form. We'll need more than just these three points to stay up.

Keep reading that we only need 3/4 more points, or that winning tomorrow will relegate Barnsley, but I'm not so sure.

I agree. We may only need 3/4 more points but I think there will be a few more unexpected results meaning we'll probably need a few more than that.

On the line up I'd rather see us find room for AA somewhere as well as Solly back in the side (if he's ready). I thought he was one of the better players on Saturday and taken off to save him for tomorrow.

I'd still also say Sordell is the best striker we have at holding up the ball.
It doesn't relegate them necessarily but I do think it keeps them below us. An 8 point gap with only 4 to play puts us in a very strong position comparatively

They could still catch Millwall or Blackpool, but not us.
  • Solly in, reza benched, 4-4-1-1
    1-1
Would settle for that, keeps the gap up to bottom 2 and lifts us above Blackpool who don't look like getting many points until our match. With 4 games against mid table teams between now & then we will hopefully get the win to make us safe
  • Barnsley Boris not playing for them any more is a bonus, he's one of those players who always has a blinder at the Valley!
  • Comfortable home win 4-0.
  • In all honesty I think this is much less important for us than it is for Barnsley. We are already 4th from bottom, we don't have any really tough games coming up and we still have a game in hand. Sure this is one of our easier games (I mean Barnsley are, actually, below us in the table), but even if we lose, even if we lose badly, we are still in a better position than the three below us and Blackpool.

With this in mind I think it will be too much for the Tykes and I think we will have so much more confidence we will claw out a 1-0 win. I don't think it will be comfortable viewing, at all, and I think most of us will have our hearts in our mouths all night, but I am confident that irrespective as to the result, we will be ok come May.

I bought two tickets for Blackpool today to ensure that I can go should we need something, but I'm confident that I will be looking to sell them as I think we will be safe by then.
  • Great incentive with a win taking us to the lofty heights of 18th place and possibly needing 1 more win to be safe. Important we get at least at least a point but hopeful we could nick this one. 1-0

Well done Red, will be watching very closely to your comments on my laptop, with CAFCwall and BBC text and watching SSN. I need to know as soon as a goal is scored. Let us hope that WHEN we score, it is on SSN this week unlike last week.

  • One word...Nervous
  • I can't see us blowing this one, and expect us to win. But I'll be worried if we are 2-1 up with 25 minutes to go and Riga goes defensive. Wasting time by trying to pass the ball around in midfield will end in disaster.

Got a bad feeling about this. Barnsley are playing for their lives and getting some good results - particularly away from home. We need to give it 100% for 90(+) minutes to get something from this. If we can't because of fatigue etc then it could blow up in our faces. If we don't find the net early to settle the nerves then I can see a big 0-2 disappointment. (Hope I am very, very wrong)
  • I hate this "fatigue" thing. We hardly put any effort in for half of the season and any professional athlete should be able to play one game every three days. Fucking terrible excuse that England trot out at Major championships. Usually it tries to hide the fact we're just not good enough!
  • Very nervous of this one. Hope we win but it'll be a tortuous 90mins.

    ....

Rather that than those pies they sell in the West Stand.
  • I have a heavy heavy feeling about this one, not based on any logic, but that the Gods of football are going to punish us because of the way the original game was postponed.

I think Doncaster was worse with us losing. That turned out for the better.
  • For some reason I think of the poor sod of a Barnsley fan, who'd got the night coach down from Glasgow of all places, only to find the match off at 1.30 or whenever it was.

  • we need to wear barnsley down and use wilson and aa to exploit this. i would aim to keep possesion for the start of the match. then as we see barnsley worn down a bit we begin to attack and score hopefully. and then we change formation and we stay defensive as we are good at that so we shouldnt be worried. if barnsley score first we will panic and not play with any confidence. wilson and aa will be key to us scoring and morrison and solly and wiggins will be the ones to help keep a clean sheet.
  • Astrit must start. I think he plays well at home and loves a bit of adulation. Also if poyet and cousins put in solid performances along with Jackson then we should win so long as defensively we close it all down. Also we are not good at defending a draw so we must go for the win.
  • Comfortable 3-0 win as Reza finally stops hitting the post and gets the net, AA from 30 yards out and Wilson pokes one home from a corner.

    We will be fine
  • A time for hero's.
  • Got a feeling that they might not want to test out Solly's knee on THAT pitch - and maybe leave him on bench for next 2 home games.

Well, if he must support Barnsley and live in Glasgow I've got no sympathy for him.

This reminds me. Isn't this the game that we have offered to pay for travel for the Barnsley fans? I hope there is a decent turn out and a cracking atmosphere. If we win (and I hope we do, obviously) this could be the last game that has this much excitement/nerves for a long time. It is, entirely, possible that we will be mid table for the next couple of seasons while we build a side capable of promotion from the youth side.

If that's the case this could be the last nail biting game we see for a long time.

Please, please tell me you meant this as a joke, he was absolutely awful on Saturday, I sincerely hope he is nowhere near the team on Tuesday.
  • A win will put us 18th and well on the way to safety with confidence knowing that we have more home games vs mid table teams which we can win and other teams playing each other.
Several candidates for the starting XI are often subbed so the timing of substitutions key and this may impact the decision as to whether to start Solly - is he ready for 90 minutes? With him available and Wilson back our options on the right look so much better... and with the quality in central midfield I would be tempted to put pace up front.
Really looking forward to this one as there's a chance to all but close out the relegation threat, subject to gaining four additional points from the other remaining games. What a contrast to this time last year - here's looking forward to a very different 2014/15
  • In a thread elsewhere I said I quite fancied needing a point from the last game of the season and scoring the equaliser in the last minute .... changed my mind.
