REZA

Hi, I am an Iranian Derby county fan living in the UK. I was wondering how Reza is doing for you guys? As you Iran have qualified for the world cup- and reza will be their leading striker (Our leading striker plays for charlton god help us haha). Anyway, some comments with regards to the strengths and weakness to his game would be appreciated, also hope you guys stay up at the expense of millwall

  • Scored a great goal against Leeds a couple of weeks ago. That was nice of him.
  • I haven't been able to see him play too often but it seems that he's getting better and better to me, scored his first goal last week with a lovely curling strike which won us an important 3 points. It's taken a while for him to adapt to the English game, especially the physicality of it, but he's coped well and I think he's only going to get better.
  • It's hard to say I think he's only just finding his feet for us. He seems to work hard but he can be very lightweight! I think the goals should start to flow next season. Joining half way through a season is hard for any player but joining charlton athletic from a foreign club when we are in the relegation zone is almost impossible for any player to make any kind of impact.
  • Oh Dave - he's ok.

His winner at Leeds meant a lot.
  • I really like the player. He needs to get a run in the team though i think to get fully up to the physical nature of the Championship. He seems to look for winning free-kicks more than using his pace which is a concern for me. But he has an eye for attacking the goal and been unfortunate with hitting the post and crossbar a few times and scoring only one goal so far. I think we will see more goals from him before the end of the season (i certainly hope so anyway).

Hopefully will be a big player for us next season.

  • (Our leading striker plays for charlton god help us haha).

and he will only get better for it.

he's got a nice touch and clearly has technical ability but he's now playing at a pace of game and against physicality he's probably never experienced before which will benefit him, us and Iran.
  • Clearly a technically gifted footballer, but I'm not sure how effective he'll be in the championship. Granted, he's got better since he joined in January already, but the way he plays isn't really fitting of a championship footballer - he's far too lightweight at times and often goes down looking for freekicks. He also does that thing where he falls over and grabs the football expecting the ref to give a freekick - annoys me so much seeing a footballer do that. Let the ref do his job!

  • Wow 9 comments already, is this the most popular/busy forum for all the football teams in the championship lol?

He seems a gifted player- and hopefully moving to CC will enable him to work hard and become a great striker that we desperately need. I havent seen much of charlton this season but im surprised how much sordell has fallen since his rapid blossom to his career at watford- what has happened?
  • He is gifted - no doubt. I suspect he has found the pace and physicality of the Championship challenging. I think his impact on games will steadily increase as he gets attuned to what is required.

All in all an excellent skillful player - I am very happy we have signed him.
  • dives a bit to much for my liking
  • Good touch, good pace, physically is going to struggle with the demands of this league. Can go long periods of the game without getting on the ball.

All in all I think he is a reasonable player but is unlikely to be a star at Charlton.
  • Needs to adapt to the dynamics of the English Championship, if he is able to do that, then he has technical ability which will enhance his contribution.
  • really lightweight, looks like a gust of wind will blow him over sometimes. Good technically but really needs to adapt to the physicality of the english leagues.
  • When I used to play (at a very low level) I was a 100%, no holds barred type player, and I have found myself drawn to those players since. Reza is light weight, bottles challenges and not that good. Would be disappointed if he was still with us next season.

Hopefully he will go on to prove me wrong.
  • Does a lot of pointing. Once he gets used to this league he will be an asset.
  • I like him.

Play him in the right role and he has the quality to do very well.

  • Needs to play up front. We keep sticking him out wide.
  • @JamesNursey: transfer gossip 2: Charlton #CAFC have little/no hope of keeping Dorian Dervite who is out of contract. #DCFC Derby & #RFC Reading keen

    Is he any good btw?

well, we're in contract talks at the moment, wouldn't say that's "little/no hope". He's decent
  • Yes, Dorian Dervite is a good player. Solid defensively and comfortable with the ball at his feet too. Heard on here recently that he was in talks over a long term deal with us.
  • Reza goes missing sometimes during the ninety, explains why i havent come across him in my panani world cup sticker album yet!
  • cheers, hope you keep hold of him, no disrespect to him/charlton-but if we are going to go up/aiming to go up next season- we probably need a defender that is quick/ solid and has been proven at championship level. As for charlton- what do you huys think of the new manager? Was the sacking of powell justified? I felt gutted for him, a ledgend at derby...
  • Very good player - technically good and creative - sadly though some prefer that we had cloggers and battering rams in all positions but his job aint to win the ball its to get assists and score goals.

Please dont go there , there is plenty to read on Powell on here at the time of his sacking. :-)
  • He was fantastic on Tuesday against Yeovil.
  • Ha, a bit like on derby forums- we still talk about whether clough was a good manager for us- even though we have the play offs to worry about ! 6 MONTHS after his sacking we have climbed from 15th to 3rd and fans still argue /debate with each other about certain aspects of his management and we are playing the best football for 8/9 years! Guess this is what these forums are for...
