A friend of mine who is a neighbour, spoke to Ben briefly & texted me saying:
"Spoke to him he is aware of Leicester and West Brom interest but only seen on social media sites"
Worrying, we NEED to sign him up , Leicester are extremely keen - He would be a massive loss
I'm very with RD plans, but little things like this need tying up, our defence is excellent , surely we could get Ben to sign - Im getting sick of all this contract talk and nothing happening with our better players.

More concerned about losing Morro and Dervite
And likewise, from the club's point of view, would you want to be negotiating a (say) three-year contract on terms when the player's agent will no doubt be saying that they want a premium for all that time because they do not know which division they will be in next year, or if all this talk of investing in the squad might come to nothing (so he might be in another relegation fight next year)?
It is a bad situation all round, although not caused by anyone currently at the club. Just goes to show what an absolutely appalling situation we would have been in without the takeover.
Contract / no contract if there is genuine interest from the top flight and he wants to go, then he will probably end up going regardless. The only thing a contract will do is ensure we get a transfer fee.
If this is true, he has a choice between playing in goal for Charlton and bench warming in the premiership, as I can't see him being first choice in that division.
Of course while negotiating a new contract, it's always good to have interest expressed in you from elsewhere, it got Wiggins a new contract for start!
Ben Hamer is not a relegation side level or League One side level keeper - he's much better than that. He's a better keeper than Rob Eliot who is making a very decent career for himself in the Premier League.
Only doing his job I suppose but can cause a bit of disharmony with the player and the club.
I like BH a lot and think he will get better, also think he is a 'Charlton' player. Also agree with others that I don't think he is a premier league keeper yet and should definitely stay with us and enjoy the ride!!!
He is a good shot stopper (sometimes), and can have good games, but if we ignored the matches at Sheff weds and Leeds he isn't the thing that makes me gut up in the morning.
He wouldn't get anywhere near the Leicester or West Brom first 11. He is a mid Championship goalkeeper who I am pleased to have at Charlton.
No chance of him being #1 over Foster or Schmeichel.
Of course he has his faults. All players do, particularly at our level. Jackson has no pace, Morrison dives in etc. However, Hamer's occasional flapping at crosses is his current downfall and one he will need to address.
He has some real attributes such as shot stopping, which after all is what we all want from a keeper. Surely we'd be more worried by a keeper who could catch everything but didn't actually save a shot?
Alnwick played well for a number of games but he is not as good as Hamer. Pope is doing extremely well at York but we should not use this as the reason for fast tracking into the first team. Particularly if we are a Championship team next year.
I'd like Hamer to stay but the uncertainty surrounding his future may mean he decides to try his luck elsewhere next season.
This. Decent keeper but he isn't even close to Casper or Foster. If he wants out then let him go. Hardly an irreplacable player to put it mildly.
