I'm not against the concept of mobile apps for clubs, Manchester City (who do everything social media better than everyone else) have a match day app that's pretty neat, and just intended for supporters.
That said, when this is what's coming from the organizing body of the division, we're never going to be able to convince them that the likes of Roland and KM and their "unique match day experience" perspective is bad.
Instead, intechnologyWiFi will facilitate a host of new revenue generation opportunities to clubs.
This is the kind of thing that attracts owners like Roland (and many, many others). I'm not anti-Capitlism (okay, I am, but putting that to one side for now), and clubs making money isn't bad, but let's be honest, this is another way to try to get money from fans. And it's on the back of one of the best revenue streams English football has:
...as well as betting – delivered in association with the League’s title sponsor, Sky Bet.
"Rather than facilitating open access to the internet, the combination of the stadium WiFi network and mobile application is designed to deliver the complete digital matchday experience to supporters".
Which translates as: You won't get what you want, but what you're given. We control this product, not you.
If its anything like those god awful cookie cutter websites that most of the clubs use then it'll be absolute dog shite, quite apart from the fact that it isn't fulfilling any purpose that existing social media doesn't except the chance to ram in play betting further down your throat.

Sigh.
