  • I guess you can only beat what is in front of you, but any over the top optimism from beating Forest(0 wins in 10) & Leeds (6 defeats in their last 7) has to be tempered by the fact that both these teams are utter, utter garbage at the moment...our lack of goals is incredible, I was under the impression that Riga's new brand of attacking football was the answer to all our problems
  • Bad. No hope of scoring. We gave the game up before kick off by picking Spongefoot upfront on his own.

Some players are starting to look tired, Sordell, Obika, Piggot, Reza have not played enough to be in that group, they do not need rotating. Church will run 20 yards to chase a dead end but not jog back 3 yards to get onside!

As for Patrucci giving the ball away then not having the balls to take a yellow by fouling their player on the half way line, pathetic.

Role on Tuesday. Still in our hands but we need to be better/more threatening than that.

This feels like the game that's finished us off
With Millwall, Yeovil and Birmingham winning away I thnk reality has set in and surely made us realise we just ain't good enough to compete with these teams

We beat Nottingham Forest and Leeds we won against two very big traditional English clubs... Think we can definitely compete at this level

We're four points behind Blackpool thanks to Yeovil and they could seriously get dragged into the fight now with our two games in hand left
  • They really weren't a very decent team Ogs, very average and playing in third gear for most of it
  • So so boring
  • Have a feeling a different formation on Tuesday as it's a must win. Can anybody there today say did the pitch play it's part and its not going to be a factor in our possible downfall?
  • Pitch was fine and no impact either way some grass free patches but the groundstaff have done well to get it up to the state it is.
  • We have scored 3 goals in 8 under Riga - equivalent to 17 over the course of a season......harsh to extrapolate over a season I guess & we have picked up vital points, but it's quite amazing nonetheless. The lowest tally over a season in the league's history is 24.
  • only upside is that my eldest had his usual "worst scenario" bet, us losing other pair of s"""" winning at 50/1

    Fair enough, AFKA.

I know we just don't create enough up front but it's just one game - not the end of our season.

  • Move on, forget today, Tuesday is a must win
  • Church was hopeless as usual and Harriott completely ineffective. Gucci makes no difference and Obika struggles to stay on his feet.
We have no attacking threat - passed the ball okay at times but never look like scoring and seem reluctant to shoot.
Frustrating as hell to watch - rest of the season will be a struggle and I just hope we don't need a result on the last day.
  • Every week I say that THAT will be the last game I have to watch Church play, and every week I am proven wrong.
  • Move on, forget today, Tuesday is a must win

That's exactly what I was trying to say.

  • One of the bottom four will make a run at it and string a set of results together. Yeovil look like the team most likely to do it as they can score goals. Not bringing in a decent forward on loan will come back to haunt us. Everyone keeps saying we are playing good teams when we play a top 6 team but yeovil got a draw at Leicester. So pissed off because 3 poitnts today would have given us a cushion and pulled other teams into it.
  • V Yeovil:

    Hamer

    Wilson
    Morro
    Dervite
    Wiggins

    Cousins
    Poyet
    Ajderevic

    Sordell
    Obika
    Reza

    Funny
  • Appalling game and not a single decent chance created. The pitch remains poor and will remain so until next season.

Dervite and Morrison looked solid but generally we looked spent and devoid of any substantive attacking threat.

Cousins is probably knackered and was second to a lot of stuff today. Sharpness wasn't there and Reading won easily enough in the end.
  • So frustrated with our players reluctance to shoot. If you don't shoot you will never score.
Not sure why the hell Church played today. Not been even on the bench in last 3 games and then suddenly in the team. He is definately not the answer up front!!!!

Scored a goal in training apparently.

That was last September, I heard.

own goal probably, still that's something.

  • Totally agree re comment on the tiredness of the forwards, they haven't played enough to be tired, Church tries but is so so painful.
  • Playing Church on his own up front is as good as forfeiting the game.
Seriously, if he starts another game I will assume that Riga has been told to take us down.
  • As I said to Fanny pre match we are going to score a shed loads against someone this season, it just was not going to be Reading.

There is a reason why Burnley, Derby and Reading are promotion hopefuls and we are not so I'm not fussed about the results we have against them, never expected much to day, Tuesday and 22nd are must win games and the are the ones to focus on.

must be a very small shed

  • That was so disappointing to come away with nothing and to gift them their goal from an attacking situation of our own. Not only did Perucci lose possession he should have taken one for the team and taken their player out. This is the business end of the Championship with our second tier status on the line, not the time to thrust an inexperienced Man Utd U21 player into the heat of battle. If JJ needed bringing off early for Tuesday put Cousins in there, at least he is a little more battle hardened. Nice one Jose for snatching defeat from the jaws of a draw. Sort it out for Tuesday please from the off!
  • Hugely disappointing

We have to be able to create more chances

How this football club believes Simon Church is an option is beyond me. Unfortunately he has nothing going for him or sadly us. Ive said before on this forum that someone should be coaching him. He cannot jump/challenge for a header as he dosn't look at the ball, doesnt anticipate, has no ball control, is not a natural finisher and when as he plays today you offer no threat to the
    opposition.

Riga also needs to take risks typically why not throw morrison up front for the last few minutes

Fact....we cannot rely on 1 chance per game as whilst the defence is ok we naturally will concede from time to time. Having no goal threat is not an option

    Sadly
  • Positive first half with no real chances. Poor second half and I think Riga's changes made it worse: Rezza and Petrucci were off the pace and gave the ball away far too much. Reading deserved the goal second half.
  • Very dispondant After today's game, still think we can beat the drop but the later we leave it the more I fear we will crumble!
Don't know why church played today , so I'm trying to convince myself it's because we are saving players for Tuesday . We looked very nervy down the wings today and that wasn't helped by Harriott and whoever playing right mid not playing well . Need to revert back to the team who played against forest and Leeds and build on from there.

Petrucci looked either nervous or lacking fitness which is a huge hindrance as we new everyone fit and ready for the run in!
Jose Riga is the one who can get the team ready for Tuesday and I'm confident he will do as anything other than a win will see us sink
