  • Hamer 8 - Solid and good distribution
    Wilson 6 - average
    Morrison 6 - average
Dervite 7 - transformed player IMO
Wiggins 6 - error ridden performance
Cousins 7 - very good first half, faded in the second
Poyet 8 - MOM for us
Jackson 6 - running on fumes
Harriott 5 - gets into good positions but decision making and final delivery poor
Ajdarevic 6 - where did he go..??
Church 3 - oh dear, no words can explain this performance without being liable

Reza 6 - needs to man up and get some longer studs in his boots o stop him from falling over

The Ref 2 - Fell for their gamesmanship far to easily and bottled giving them cards when needed
  • Hamer 8
    Wilson 7
    Morrison 7.5
    Dervite 7.5
    Wiggins 7
Cousins 7.5 - would have been more but for the poor shot when through on goal
    Poyet 7.5
    Jackson 7
    Harriott 7
Ajdarevic 7 - would have been more if he handed faded so badly
Church 6.5 - lucky to get a game, I think

Reza - 7.5 - more skilful than the rest of our forward line, it's a shame he doesn't have Yann to feed off.

    Petrucci n/a
    Obika n/a

  • Hamer 7
    Wilson 6
Wiggins 7 - best attacking threat
    Dervite 7
    Morrison 7.5
AA - 4.5 - surprised with the high marks, lethargic was an understatement, he seemed to take an absolute lifetime when he had the ball, performance
summed up when he let the ball run under his foot and out for a throw, then was immediately subbed.
    JJ - 5.5
Harriot - 5 How frustrating is it watching this guy at times, poor first touch and so wasteful in good areas.
    Poyet - 7.5
    Cousins - 6
Church - 5 - pretty convinced he's been told to stop running in the channels and play more centralised role which has exposed he forward play, in fairness we all know his not great in the air so dealing with up at his head against those two CB's was never going to work.

AA is pivotal to our attacking play at home and when hes not on his game which he wasn't for me, we suffer

Hamer 7.5 - not too much to do but made one great save. No fault for goal
Wilson 6.5 - not at his best but OK.
    Morrison 7 - OK
    Dervite 7 - OK
Wiggins 7 - few good runs but not enough quality in delivery
Cousins 8 Excellent - kept going
Poyet 8 - wish he had signed his contract
Jackson 7 - lots of hard yards effort
Harriott 6 - shite final ball showed some pace and skill,
Ajdarevic 5 - too little too knackered
Church 6.5 - I though he tried his best. He ain't no Peter Crouch so why did we keep trying to find his head? Little quality service for him to work with.
Reza 6 - though he looked decent but played to withdrawn (presumably under orders)
Petrucci 4 - no impact, gave it away for their goal
Obika - 6 lively - he should have been on earlier after they scored.
  • Hamer 6 His distribution in the first half loses him a point a couple of times his casual approach could have cost us
    Wilson 6 Looks tired
    Morrison 7 Sound played well
Dervite 7 Glad he is back
    Wiggins 6 Looking tired
    Cousins 7 Played well
Poyet 8 Looks a class above
Jackson 7 Kept at it. I suspect he was subbed because of the schedule and it my have cost us the point
Harriott 6 Like most wingers he is an enigma
Ajdarevic 6 Would have been a 7 if he looked fitter. He has after assists against QPR , Forest and Leeds been a key player .We will need to hope he can make a contribution in the next few years.
Church 5 He does frustrate me.Maybe he would be better with a partner
Reza 6 Looked reasonable when he came on
Petrucci Didn't impress me in his cameo , hopefully he will improve.
Obika Hope he starts against Yeovil we looked more potent when he came on.
  • Hamer 7
    Wilson 6

Ask him out then but I doubt we will see the slightest improvement :0)

Wonder how Keily would have been marked on here, his distribution was no where near on the same planet as Hamer's, great keeper though and was our saviour on many occasion by not conceding goals. Isn't that the main job of a keeper or have I misunderstood the role for the best part of six decades? :-0

A pretty good first half that was ruined by a capitulation in the second where we were awful, its only the good first half that has saved these marks from being all 3-5 (bar Hamer).

My CSE grade 2 in a maths in 1983 was pretty crap but if 0 is a 'pile of pony' and 10 is 'walking on water', 5 therefore must be average? (Some of the marks above 5 on here simply do not correspond with the comments!) Have seen a couple of 7's with a comment saying 'okay'! If the performance was just okay that attracts a 5 (average mark between 0-10) in my book! And Church/Reza hitting anything of 5 or above is simply scandalous! Below average 3's and 4's at best! Was anybody actually above average (5) yesterday? In all honesty, really? Hamer for sure, Cousins, Poyet; but to see Church and Reza hitting above average marks! I would need to have a quiet cheeky word with myself before affording such over the top scores!

A bit strange that he is your MOM yet seems to get the lowest score among the back four from all the other posters. Don't get me wrong I listened to the cafc player and thought he had a good game and very pleased to see you give him the highest rating.

I must say when I look through the players marks I sometimes wonder if you all went to the same game, lol...
No more strange than you making a comment on someones rating, when they were there, & you were listening on the radio.
Yes I made a comment on people's ratings but it was not like I was questioning anything. I wasn't/couldn't be there and that was why I came on here to see the players' marks given by those who went. I wanted to have a general idea of every individual player's performance and joked about the confusion I'd had in the past about the ratings. Sorry it came across the wrong way. Should've said thanks to all those who had given the marks and lancashire lad. I won't post on these threads anymore.
Jessie don't worry about it, It was my mark you commented on, and for the record it was because I thought that Wiggy gave us the best hope of providing a platform for a goal during the game. Simply my opinion, and given the variety of marks from yesterday it is each to their own. I try to be consisten in my marking across the season.

Incidentally (especially in the context of recent discussion regarding surveys), the amount of data collected match by match over the season adds up to a pretty accurate reflection of the players.

I agree up to a point .When the back pass rule came in the 90's it changed the keeper's priorities in my view, I remember hearing Nicky Johns say that this change was the deciding factor in his retirement from Maidstone United because he knew he could not adapt his game.

The reason I marked Ben down yesterday was that on 2 occasions in the first half he nearly gave away possession in a dangerous area. I agree his general distribution is good I just wish he didn't take those sorts of risks.

    Church 3. why?

    Reza 6 looked lively

  • @The_President @Seth plum thank you for your kind words and understanding.

Seth I like your rating system. Would probably be a good idea to put it on top of the marks thread every time as a reference for everyone before they give their scores. Just a thought.

Thank you for your suggestion Jessie but I won't be taking it up.
Lifers have many different methods of assessing players, most of which give an accurate assessment of the game, so we will continue to give Lifers a free range without suggesting one system or another.
    However your input is appreciated
  • Hamer 6.5 Seemed jittery but another v save
    Wilson 6.5
    Morrison 6
Dervite 7.5 Enjoying a purple patch
Wiggins 7 If only he could get his crossing back to form
Cousins 7 Understandably faded but gave it his all in quite an advanced position
Poyet 7.5 Remarkable composure in possession
    Jackson 6.5
Harriott 6 Really tried to unsettle them but poor decision making
    Ajdarevic 5.5
Church 2.5 Don't like making silly reactionary judgements but really, what did he contribute?

Reza 6 Maybe tried a bit too hard. Keep him up top.

    Petrucci n/a Right-footed AA?
Obika n/a Please start him v Yeovil. He ruffled them more in 10 mins than Church did all game.

Hamer 7 curate's egg performance, flappy on high stuff, bizarre choices to punch, decent shotstopping
Wilson 6 his best game in a very long time, still can't cross or pass more than 10 yards
    Morrison 7 decent solid
    Dervite 7 decent solid
Wiggins 7 decent solid and suffering from complete absence of cover
    Cousins 8 MOM
Poyet 7 when he adds shooting to his armoury he's gonna be special
    Jackson 7 decent solid
Harriott -5 baffling selection, how he wasn't subbed defies sense, Reading's best player by far, just gave the ball away relentlessly, never tried to get it back, bottled tackles, witless - frankly appalling
Ajdarevic 3 bone idle show pony on balance not worth his place
Church 5 no service whatsoever but he is painfully slow in the legs and seemingly in the head

Reza 4 boy in a man's game out if his depth, tries hard tho which is more than Astrid bothers with

Petrucci 0 awfully slow and just awful - looks fat - Tudgay had to be the better choice to keep til May
Obika he'll be wondering how bad he has to be to get a game

Riga 0 selecting calamity harriet WTF? keeping him on more than 20 minutes really WTF? playing church up on his own was bizarre, sticking with the system was worse - 2 substitutions made it worse still and 3rd was too late - depressingly familiar
  • that's it for marks, stats later
