  • As far as in concerned siv anyone who plays with a Charlton badge on there chest deserves a clap on the pitch .
I'm sure the first team don't support us even though they play for us
  • One of the designated teams in the community that are named in the application for the new Academy plans submitted are the Junior reds.
In fact I hope it is more that will share this shared facility. They have a number of teams, including men's Saturday league.
Personally I think it is great that kids play football, if there is a CAFC connection great, and with the training/3g pitch plans I am sure Junior reds will be a key player in local football for
the future. Good luck to them and the people who run the teams.

  • Thank you ken
Clive who is the chairman is an unsung hero . Doing what he does for the club is unbelievable .
I do hope there is a stronger link going forward .
But as you say it's great that junior reds offers the opportunity to over 800 kids to play football on a Saturday and Sunday week in and week out .

Junior Reds is a great organisation. Well run and organised. My son plays for a different under 11 team and even though not all the boys support Charlton, they do gain a certain affinity with the club due to the links that are there.

Obviously this includes playing with the club's badge on their kit but also end of season events are held at The Valley and the boys get the opportunity to watch some home games.

There are over 50 teams, which works out at over 800 children and adults getting the opportunity to play in our kit every weekend.

There is some real talent in the teams and I know plans are afoot to try and increase the official links between the club and Junior Reds.
  • Junior Reds is a fantastic set up and Clive the chairman is an unsung hero the work he puts in for all these kids. The club was started some 13 years ago and has grown to 50+ teams and also run a Saturday Soccer School at Bexleyheath School.I used to be the treasurer for the past 10 years but had to leave as moving away and there is a connection with Charlton even though not every child or manager are not Charlton supporters.Peter Varney also did a lot of work setting up Junior Reds and the new project at the training is going to involve Junior Reds.
  • itsmyball and killer kish, Clive is definitely an unsung hero, i have known clive for only 6 years after I was coaching with the soccer club and took on an under 9 team, they have some fantastic people that are part of the club and the work they have done on the whole for the community with the amount of teams etc is amazing - in all honesty it aint an easy job keeping up with nigh on 40 odd junior teams and two adult teams.

Well done to the team! Brings back good memories!

I used to play for the Junior Reds young team, then adult teams as I grew, on the away trips against the fans of whoever we were playing that day. That was great fun!

I also played for the Junior Robins, which was mainly culled from Junior Red members (though the team ended up with players who supported some other teams, & even ended up managed by a Palace fan - Liam Ridgewells dad).

We played in the Bexley League. We got introduced on the pitch at shathurst, after we had won promotion & the league cup. T'was the day we played Man U. (1-0 win - Reid penalty)
    T'was was a grand day!

Your lads will have a blast! Especially the CAFC fans in the team! :-)
  • Will be great for the kids

50 teams that's impressive must be extremely well managed

Is that all boys or girls and disabled teams also

    Good luck this weekend

I am well looking forward to our game you must be playing it over In your mind also

  • All boys
No girls teams yet or any teams with disabilities but I think they are in the pipeline .
    And yep I'm a nervous wreck :-)
  • Sponsored links:

  • Suck it in mate thing is the kids will love it we will hate it till the whistle goes

We have girls and boys and are looking to run a disabled team in the very near future

Once again good luck and I look forward to hearing your result
  • Done a couple of pennants for the game for Phoenix and a flag for them, what was the result.
  • Junior reds 1- 2 phionex after extra time . Cracking game could have gone either way .
Shame for the boys but onto the league now and it's between us both too .
  • Unlucky itsmyball and could luck with the league
  • Tough luck, concentrate on the league.
  • same itsmyball

    we went out 6-4

fuming as we had 2 goals ruled not too have crossed the line

ultimately we missed far too many chances at 2-1 to us to kill the game off

    seriously pissed off tonight
  • Unlucky Nla .
Our boys played really well. Two very good teams with two different styles of play .
Had the Charlton scouts there watching a few of our boys and one is down at sparrows lane next week so not to bad after all
  • Mirror again mate we play on the floor try to pass back to front and ware play direct and are very good at it

We were the better team but they were better at what they do and how they executed it and their keeper had a stormer where ours fell below the normal levels

It's the third game in two weeks where the winner will win the league I just hope the boys get revenge on a bigger pitch that enables our overlapping and passing to show
  • Drowning my sorrows now though so feck knows how pros feel as I feel gutted really guttedy not was distraut at the second disallowed goal as it was his and a cracking header that seemed well in from where we were and the mgrs son scoring an OG with mins to go just killed the last 5 mins
