Southeastern train disruption (franchise to be taken over by Govt p191)

The driver is repsonsible for recognising the wrong route has been set and therefore it is the drivers fault. Although the initial error was made by the signalman, ultimately the driver will be disciplined for this.Off_it said:
Phew, that's OK then. That must make the stranded souls at Lewisham feel so much better.STEVEREEVE said:Just a quick reminder!
The signalman works for Network Rail which is owned and controlled by the government. Nothing at all to do with South Eastern.
So, who makes the announcements then?

OK, but move along quickly, there's nothing to see here.addick1965 said:My train pulled into New Eltham this morning with smoke billowing from underneath it.The smoke stopped and the train sat there for 25 mins then we all got kicked off.

There is absolutely nothing ordinary about any of that...Sillybilly said:Having a mercifully ordinary day. Train on time and sitting next to a nice chap who's reading a book and being careful not to squash into my space. No daily growler to report. Sorry.

Yesterday was all a dream. It she old congestion excuse this morning trotted out by a monotone soulless driver. Utter bollocks. Oh and beardy weirdy is back but at least he left the window alone. Think it was me growling at him. Huh!1

Left Catford Bridge at 8.42. Still not made it to New Cross. Absolute disgrace.
Apologised twice for any inconvenience this may cause though, so all good, no problem.

Stuck somewhere near New Cross. Haven't moved for ages.0

Farcking useless. Need to learn to use Twitter properly - there seems to be loads of info on there about how shit the trains are this morning, but South Eastern don't seem to have developed technology advanced enough to communicate this info to their drivers (telephone or text perhaps).
Anyway, thanks Mr Driver, yourastute observations and frequent situation reportstwo muffled, feeble apologies made my23 minute54 minute journey a real breeze.
Utter, utter c#*ts.1 - Sponsored links:

Trains to Kent are screwed on the Woolwich line this morning. One hit the platform at Charlton early this morning.
Perhaps it thought it saw Latrien turning up early for work that shocked it off the tracks!!6 -
how does a train hit the platform, don't those rail things keep it in a fairly set position....TelMc32 said:Trains to Kent are screwed on the Woolwich line this morning. One hit the platform at Charlton early this morning.

Don't be daft, the train doesn't move, it's the concrete platform that plays dare with the oncoming train.

Yeah, I did make that comment.bbob said:

My neighbour works for Network Rail and stopped me as I was pulling out of the drive this morning to warn me. Thankfully, I only need the DLR to Canary Wharf.
Hopefully, it's sorted before people try getting home tonight.0 - Sponsored links:

Southeastern @Se_Railway 33s34 seconds ago
Following emergency engineering work, trains from London to Dartford can run via Woolwich but won't stop at Charlton for the rest of the day
They bring a new meaning to useless, the f*%king thieving twats.2 -
I'm still can't work out how a train managed to crash into a platform this morning. And then still causing cancellations in the evening. The trains can go through Charlton (although can't stop because of the devastation to the platform), so why the are they cancelling them!?0

You can see on here how your journey will change after August when they swap over, ie Cannon Street wont stop at Ldn Bridge.
https://fromthemurkydepths.wordpress.com/2016/06/09/big-southeastern-rail-changes-from-august/
There's a lot of info on that website but you can click on a timetable eventually to see.
Then this article on there talks about running the Thameslink line down to Abbey Wood.
https://fromthemurkydepths.wordpress.com/2016/06/16/27-storey-tower-coming-to-abbey-wood/
And somewhere along that website I came across a comment about Southeastern having their licence revoked in 2018 (or something similar) but I cant find it now for the life of me. Don't know if anyone knows anything about this?

Their franchise runs out in 2018, at which point other companies can apply to take over the network. But South Eastern can also apply to continue, as they successfully did last time it came up for renewal. Just because they're total shit doesn't mean they'll get chucked off. More likely they'll have another "fresh start", i.e. make a few promises about improving and then find a way to be even worse than before.

Thanks. Okay that makes sense.
