Sordell

I know i am probably in the minority on this but i would not mind if we could sign Marvin on a permanent deal at the end of the season, strong fast just needs some Confidence which i think Jose can give him. Do not think the way we set up to play in the past did him any favours but am fully confident he will come good for us.

  • did not do at his previous clubs, which is he on loan to us. A poor team facing relegation, and he has not even been able to get an established place in the team, just do not think he can do it for us.
  • opps sorry didnt see that
  • Seeing that the other Marvin Sordell comments go back to Feb now... Will say it on here

The way he's been playing of late I'd be quite happy to see him signed on a perm basis as well (although it depends if there are better players out there as we do have a bit more money now)... What worries me though is this higher amount of effort from him is simply to impress the new boss and after a couple of weeks we'll see the old Sordell again

I hope not though as he did some good dribbles against Bournemouth and there were a couple of times he got himself down a cul-de-sac and with a bit of determination he still managed to come out with the ball
  • You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
  • dont think he deserves a permenant deal but really do think he sould start ahead of church.

He hold up a lot more of the ball and does seem to be a technically decent player and for all churchs huff and puff he just doesnt cut it.

Would give sordell a proper run in the side and if he does well then the possibility of a permenant deal becomes more credible.

  • He may not be our best striker but he is by far our best lone target man in a 4-2-3-1.

Thought he was very strong against Huddersfield in that role and was unlucky not to score.
  • he is a genuinely nice bloke whos mum should be very proud,
  • Like to see him up top next to Obika (in an old fashioned 2 up top) think they might work well together, worth a try imo.
  • he didn't play particularly well under Powell, always looked demotivated and a bit of a fish out of water .. let's see what Riga can get out of him before any notion of long term permanent contracts coming his way

  • I like him and think he just needs confidence. Head goes down quickly but he could be anything if he comes good.
  • anyone that done the foodbank thing like he done is a top top lad
  • anyone that done the foodbank thing like he done is a top top lad

    what was that?

  • he does do a lot of charity work and he seemed like a typical powell signing in that regard. However it's been obvious that he's either lost a bit of love for the game or didn't really think much of powell as a manager. It's obvious he's talented but just for whatever reason upstairs it just hasn't worked for him the past 18 months.
  • Prefer to sign someone on a permanent who can actually score goals!
  • This is from the Phil Parkinson school of thinking; perform terribly in your role on a temporary basis, receive deal to carry on doing so. No thanks.
  • Sounds like an extremely nice guy and should be a role-model for youngsters to how footballers should behave. On twitter he's always taking part in charity work and his own Marvin Sordell Foundations.

However, he is terrible. Offers absolutely nothing and can't wait for him to go back to Bolton and leave with some of the other poor players we have in our squad.
  • Id love to know how many minutes he has had compared to other forwards we have had this season and the goals to minutes ratio's etc

  • That said, I thought Sordell was alright on Tuesday. Can't make Burnley but I would like to see him paired with Obika up front as well
  • sordell 954 minutes played 2 goals League apps

church 2148 minutes played 3 goals League apps

says it all really, "Run Forrest Run"
  • He took a car load of food over xmas to the food banks and handed it over, he regularlty supports charities and has some involvement in a trust , all this at his young age, the boy is as grounded and deserving of support as any I have heard of , if your daughter came home with someone as nice as marvin you would be happy

I know someone who runs a charity for trafficked women. She said that Sordell is a voluntary ambassador for them and has helped establish the organisation by sacrificing a lot of his time. Makes me erally hope he can re-egnite his career and become a true CAFC cult hero.
  • Same for assists?
  • We need a song for Marvin - im sure he will respond with confidence and goals.

church has 2 sordell has none
  • The Marv will come good of that I am sure. He needs a strike partner though, up top on his own is not the one
  • Christ we must be desperate if we have fans saying we should permanently sign someone who has been crap for 7 months, hardly scored any goals, hardly does ANYTHING, and will be one of the highest earners at the club for it.
